A little off topic but isn’t it dangerous for a VP nominees’ kid to be active duty in a war? Will he have some sort of military version of SS? I remember when they took young Prince Harry out of Iraq bevcause of that.

Ah for the ‘good old days’ when all a Senator/Congressman who had wangled a USNR Commission then flew OVER a war zone got awarded a Silver Star for his ride (LBJ comes to mind) or,
EVEN BETTER, The son of FDR being on ACTIVE DUTY with USMC, serving as Carlson’s XO and helping to form what is now USMC Recon units right up to McCain flying Jets in a war zone with his Father being area Commander, even Al Gore (at least doing a VN tour) with his father as a powerful Senator, to McCains son serving USMC in Iraq while his father was/is a powerful Senator.
BTW ...It is DANGEROUS FOR ALL OUR KIDS/GRANDKIDS TO BE ON ACTIVE DUTY IN A WAR ZONE.
It is a shame that the Bushes, Clintons, Cheneys (I had better things to do), Bidens and other now sitting senior Pols from the VN era had no problem letting US go and now they have no problem sending OUR grandkids and kids off to do their bidding.
Yet we have NO problem attacking McCain (not MY first choice by a long shot) whose family has/had risen to very high Commands in the USN and his sons are carrying on the family’s tradition to serve.
Hell even HRC wanted to go in the USMC (barf)
I think the military knows how to take of this. Isn’t McCain’s son in Iraq or Afghanistan? FDR’s sons were service members in WWII and he was the President, not just a candidate.
