Within 10 minutes of this airing we’d already gotten four or five e-mails about it; 20 minutes later, a bowdlerized version had already hit YouTube and begun circulating. I despise lefty sites for twisting conservatives’ words by selectively editing clips, so let’s cut this one off at the pass before it gets going. Here’s the full exchange with Stephanopoulos, making it perfectly clear that when he says “my Muslim faith” he’s referring to how the people smearing him see him, not how he sees himself. No mas, please.

The singular spelling variants “potato” vs. “potatoe” co-existed into the 19th century. In the 20th century “potato” came to be considered the correct singular, and “potatoe” considered a misspelling. The plural remains “potatoes’”.

I’m with you, it seems to be a Freudian slip. It flowed so smoothly off his tongue. Those who think otherwise should try to put themselves in Obama’s shoes. Would you say it that way or would you say, I agree that John McCain has not accused me of being a Muslim? I certainly don’t think I would have used the words,”my muslim faith”, in any context.
In any event the church he attended for twenty years is not a Christian church regardless of what they choose to call it. It may not be Muslim either but it is definitely NOT Christian!

No, he didn’t admit he was a Muslim. But it was curious he used the words “my Muslim faith.” He misspoke, but it was interesting how he misspoke.
Suppose someone had accused him of having had a prior career as a bank robber. Would he likely say, “Senator McCain does not talk about my bank robbing career” or would he say something like, “Senator McCain has not accused me of having been a bank robber”? Sorry, but it looks like a Freudian slip to me. The interviewer, who is certainly experienced and had to know the context, took it as a slip. He did not get the meaning you seem to get or he would not have felt the need to correct Obama.
Trying to read it otherwise only makes the person claiming it look bad!

It is obvious that it is not an actual admission of being a Muslim, that is not the point. The point is that the sentence construction is very odd unless it was a Freudian slip. To say,”Senator McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith” just doesn’t strike the right tone. It would have seemed much more normal to say something like,”Senator McCain has not accused me of being of the Muslim faith or something similiar. It may seem like a small thing but such things can be very revealing. Then there is the matter of the interviewer seeing such an obvious need to correct him as though it sounded very strange to his ears also.

adversarial, why would obama ONLY refer to “my muslim faith” while talking about things that “McCain has never said”? There are billions and billions of things that McCain has never said while referring to obama. And yet, obama picks up THAT SINGULAR POINT, whether by design or by accident.
What’s interesting is that only obama, and obama only, brought up the point about “MY MUSLIM FAITH”.

I think he was referring to Dan Quayle’s “raking over the coals” when he didn’t spell the potato correctly. When the MSM learned of this, they destroyed his political career over it and it was suppose to be “breaking news”. So after that debacle, whatever the LEFT does is FAIR GAME to me as well.

I agree totally! I have always thought Dan Quayle was far smarter than given credit for and the hubbub over spelling potato was absurd beyond belief. If intelligence is to be measured by spelling we must have quite a few retarded people posting on FR.
