Sally Quinn Does Complete U-turn on Sarah Palin
NewsBusters ^ | September 6, 2008 | P.J. Gladnick

What a difference a few hours make. It is almost like Sally Quinn was blinded by the light of truth on the road to Damascus. On CNN's "American Morning" on Friday, Quinn repeated her doubts as to whether Sarah Palin could "put country first" due to her family reponsibilities as a mother:

Everyone woman I know practically is a working mother. We have conflicts and guilts that men simply don't have. And, basically the burden of raising children falls on the mother, no matter what kind of a job she has. So, I think that to, you know, we're so far beyond the feminist argument here. This is not about feminism, it's not about sexism, it's simply about can you do the job? One of the things I noticed over this last convention is John McCain, they must have said it 1,000 times, I put my country first. He put his country first. And I think if you're talking about the commander in chief and that is what she is likely to be given his age and his health. Will she put her country first, or will she put her family first?

Well, something must have happened in the few hours between Quinn's CNN appearance and her apology for her own statements like this on Fox's O'Reilly Factor later that day:

Ya think old Bill might get a clue when his dry cleaner keeps asking about the rug burns on the back of his jacket and knees of his trousers.

Flame away - this woman knew very well the deal before accepting the VP offer with a newborn in arms, and has planned accordingly. There is no such thing as a full-time mom and full-time vice-president in the same person.

There is no such thing as being a full-time Mom or a full-time Dad and having any full-time or part-time job.

Palin's husband is a full-time Dad. Sarah Palin's job makes that possible.

What we are now hearing from the Left is that Dads are not good enough to be the full-time parents and that women are not meant to have jobs.

If that's the case, then let's get women back in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant, where they belong. < /sarc>

If her turnaround is real, then I assume she saw her own bloody head in a mirror (along with that of most other women) after her knee-jerk learned-in-the-cradle partisan attempt to sink the Republicans cause her to blundgeon all women with a slegehammer.

It just shows what utter crocks most of these liberal “journalists” really are. Occasionally their manical assults on all things conservative come back to haunt themselves.

Let’s not get too excited about this folks...60 days is a loooooooooooong ways to go. Anything can happen.
The MSM will do everything possible to ruin the Palin family in the next few weeks. Count on it.

And the RATS are capable of ANYTHING! We all know this so stand firm.

What made her pull a 180? Obviously she could no longer control her lesbian lust.

They keep talking about McCain’s age and health. Come on, Reagan was elected for his second term and he was older than McCain. McCain’s 96 year old mom looks and acts much younger than her years. I mean they’re propping Robert Byrd up, and he’s 3rd in the line of succession to the Presidency...but I don’t see anybody mentioning his age or health.

God bless you sir. So often when this sort of thing happens the men can't handle it emotionally. Having grown up in the 50s and 60s I can understand and sympathize. But for better or worse our world has changed, at least for the time being, and women are increasingly the ones making the most money or at least have the potential for making the most money in a family.

For a time in the early 80's that was the case in my family and it hurt my husband deeply. Fortunately, he finally got the job that advanced his career. It doesn't always happen and it doesn't matter really. If there is love and willingness to work together the family will do well no matter who the biggest bread winner is. Again God bless you.

What made her pull a 180?

My money's on her having sobered up for a bit.

I have no interest in anything Sally Quinn Bradlee writes or her pronouncements.

Remember people, she was a third rate reporterette on an obscure section of the Washington Post until she started tuning Ben Bradlee's carburetor.

She is as meaningful as old socks to the political process.

I’m sure you are right, but there are lots of mothers serving their country and having to put motherhood and their families second. Any mother serving in the armed forces and sent on deployment is an example.

My husband is a great father, but we have had this discussion before in relation to the Coast Guard and the order that we fall. Lol The coast guard is first, myself and the kids are second. We made adjustments when the kids were young. I was a stay at home mom. I am pretty sure that Mr. Palin is going to be a stay at home dad if they win. I don’t believe he will be working in the oil fields while she is Vice-President.

Families all over this country make adjustments all the time.

So what did happen on Friday to make Sally Quinn do such a dramatic turnaround on the subject of Sarah Palin?

Ms. Quinn was one of the first responders. Her job, along with a few other media elite, was to ignite the fires of bias and wait for the tag along media to pick up the cause - piling on until the blaze became a firestorm, driving Palin off the ticket.

Unfortunately for Quinn, things did not go according to plan. Palins speech, along with Fred's and Rudy's was a thunderstorm drowning out the message and the messenger. The flood of backlash left Quinn and others like her drowning in a sea of criticism about media bias.

This "apology" is nothing more than Quinn crawling into the lifeboat. Quinn, finally, got the new talking points memo. She will be quiet for a couple weeks until she reaches dry ground. Then, more cautiously, she will try to destroy Palin - first will faint praise and then with "serious questions."

BILL O’REILLY: So not only did Miss Palin do a good job as you just said but your column and other columns like yours rallied the folks to her side and actually helped the McCain-Palin ticket dramatically.

Wonder why she did’nt tell Bill to call her Governor Palin instead of Miss Palin?

Maybe her husband lit her up for making all fathers out to be dirt bags. Given her job, he probably does more child care than she does.

Agreed, she even called Mitt Romney, George Romney. These loons just throw excrement on the walls to see what sticks. They don’t really care what is true...

.....Fear. Fear of being transparently illogical, ridiculous, and a cranky feminazi in the face of the Conservative Vice Presidential Candidate.......

The future..... she might want to interview the Vice President and learn about how she is leading the charge on energy development. An apology will go a long way in helping to get the interview

I disagree. Millions of Moms do it everyday..they are not poor employees or they are not poor Moms. They get their jobs done on both fronts, somehow...
