MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (AP) ― Unlike his Republican opponent, Democrat Barack Obama is still raising money for his presidential campaign, and he turned Friday to rock legend Jon Bon Jovi for help.
Bon Jovi and his wife, Dorothea, hosted more than 100 people for dinner on their mansion lawn by the Navesink River in Middletown, N.J. The price was $30,800 a person, to be divided between the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
"When I look at Barack, I see an old man," Bon Jovi said in introducing his guest. Obama is 47, Bon Jovi is 46.
Obama spoke for about eight minutes before greeting guests individually. He vowed to fight Republican attacks on his character and background more fiercely than John Kerry did in his losing campaign four years ago.
"We're not going to be bullied, we're not going to be smeared, we're not going to be lied about," Obama said. "I don't believe in coming in second."

Voter Registration Fraud Begins in PA -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I was walking home from work today, I saw two people registering people to vote. I indicated that I wanted a form (I've been too busy to get one to change my party affiliation, and here was one right in front of me). They woman, Ayla, handed me a clipboard that had "Women for Barack Obama" fliers on it with the voter registration forms. I then indicated I wanted to fill out the form at home, and she refused to let me have a form. I explained this was a public document that I could get at the post office. She said, "We were told we're not allowed to let you take it." At this point, I asked the man with her, who identified himself as Patrick B., if I could have a form. He said no, so I asked what organization they belonged to. He said Grassroots Campaigns, Inc. I took down all their information and also snapped a picture of them walking away on my cell phone. A quick visit to the website's homepage (www.grassrootscampaigns.com) has a picture of Obama, but it goes on to say that at the bottom, "...Grassroots Campaigns, Inc. prohibits the flow of information about a candidate or political party's campaign plans, projects, activities or needs." I called to ask whether these people were in violation of the organizations's own policies by having the "Women for Obama" literature. The woman who took my call, Sarah M., said probably not but she would take my complaint and have someone call me. I will be calling the board of elections on Monday to see what the rules are concerning denying someone a form and carrying candidate campaign literature, but I smell a rat. Why wouldn't they let me have a form that I could get at any post office? Does anyone have information about this organization or, even better, know anything about voter registration rules in PA?
Watch out for the Fraud's antics and fight back!
What is he talking about?
Still chasing celebrity like Britany and Paris. Just like ordinary folks hanging out with a big.........almost washed up rock star. Keep it up zerObama.
Who’s doing the “bullying”, Obama?
Just get out of the way and you won’t get run over...and take the Kiddie Kommie Klub, you and your wife run, with you.
Only $30K per person?
Obama, man of the people...
You got dat right. Now go fetch your big sistahs Hillary & Oprah to fight for you, boy-child.
Geez, what a putz. Can you imagine him saying this to Al Qaeda?
Love how the first sentence mentions that McCain can’t raise anymore money and neglects to mention that Obama went back on his word and thus the reason he is still holding fundraisers to be directly used as he pleases (vs the limitations of agreeing to the federal dough).
Obviously when McCain agreed to the federal limitations he planned to use the point as a sword at the debates plus if he wins and there is moaning and groaning by Obama and partisans McCain can state that his message was obviously more superior/convincing because he had less money to throw around.
“I mean Stevie Ray Vaughan is dead, and we can’t get Jon Bon Jovi in a helicopter. Come on, folks. ‘Get on that helicopter John. Shut up and get on that helicopter! Yeah, yeah there’s a hair dresser in there.’” - Dennis Leary
Who is bullying Obama?
Geez... He takes more offense over a few jokes at his expense and having people point out how sparse his few years as a community organizer really were (and how long ago they were) than he does when terrorists blow up innocent people just because they hate us.
As a former roomate of mine once said, “Bon Jovi they give music a bad name.”
What you mean you don’t hang out with Jon? Get with the times man.
If Obama were this feisty about protecting our nation’s reputation from disparagement by the media, our enemies, and international critics he’d be a lot more credible.
I see the same old politics of racial grievance, taxation, pork, "detente" with enemies who wish to slit our throats...that same old bs that was already tired by the end of the sixties.
Is he off to Switzerland tonight to attend a dinner set up with George Clooney?
Or did this this happen already?
