Sarah Palin's record on environment is abysmal
Seattle PI ^ | Sept. 5, 2008 | RICK STEINER

Posted on 09/05/2008 8:03:09 PM PDT by FocusNexus

In addition to her frightening lack of qualification to be vice president (much less president) of the United States, Palin is an evangelical, anti-choice, pro-gun, right-wing conservative who wants creationism taught in schools.

Although in the past two years the Arctic summer sea ice shrunk to the lowest levels ever recorded, Palin apparently does not believe it is human-induced or cause for alarm.

Oil and gas drilling. Palin has supported oil and gas drilling plans anywhere in Alaska, including in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the central Arctic, the entire Arctic Ocean, and in fish-rich Bristol Bay and Cook Inlet. On her watch, regulation and government oversight of Alaska oil facilities is terribly lacking, and she has declined to establish a citizens' advisory council to provide more effective public oversight of the expanding oil and gas operations in Arctic Alaska.

The pattern is clear. On the environment, Sarah Palin is essentially George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and perhaps James Watt rolled into one, but with a more pleasant demeanor.

The author isn’t reading what I’ve been reading. Artic ice levels are back to what they were in Feb 2007. but that wouldn’t suit their agenda, would it.

Well hell, she gets my vote then.

Who knew the Seattle P.I. would say something positive about Sarah Palin?

Yeah, but her moose stew is terrific.

Of course plants grow there. Their flowers are absolutely gorgeous and they have a good growing season. It’s not all snow and winter. Anchorage often has weather like ours in CNY, even in winter.

Oh, I thought they said “Auntie Christ”. I figured we were going to get to do a musical drag-queen Savior schtick. Never mind, Bruce, put the costume trunk back in the attic.

“Palin is an e v a n g e l i c a l”

Religious bigotry anyone?

What if she were a Jew?

“In addition to her frightening lack of qualifications, Palin is a dirty Jew.”

What is the difference?

The PI should be going under any day now. No one reads it except a dwindling community of geriatric 60's Love Children growing increasingly bitter as the years pile on.

as if plants actually grew there!

Much of Alaska's agricultural center is located in the Matanuska Valley. Because there can be up to 19 or 20 hours of sunlight there in the summer, much of the produce is HUGE!

She is currently under investigation by the Alaska Legislature for alleged abuse of office.

That's really powerful stuff. And original too. I've Never heard any of that before. I thought I liked her. But now that you have laid out the facts so clearly, I've reached a different conclusion (actually two). I love her, and you are a simplistic idiot barely capable of transcribing childish talking points from the Daily KOS. Hope you have a day job.

Did I forget to put the "/sarc" in there?

You skipped right over the "making a living as an Exxon Valdez activist".

BTW, been reading through the "Anne Kilkenny" blog references ~ lot of Leftwingtard stuff is focused on her supposed existence and supposed letter. What's missing are any good pictures of Anne. We do not, for example, know if this ol'gal has legs, a motorcycle, or an airplane.

You'd think a broad this mouthy (and professionally "catty") would have two of each, all painted purple.

I’ve posted this before, but this seems like a good time:

Check out the temperature record over the last 400,000 years:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Ice_Age_Temperature.png

The last 5 million years:

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Five_Myr_Climate_Change.png

And the last 65 million years:

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:65_Myr_Climate_Change.png

Note the general trend (colder) since the Himalayas formed (about 40 million years ago), which has been “enhanced” since the formation of the Isthmus of Panama. Note also that the Earth has been mostly too *expletive deleted* cold and dry, for the last few million years, to be “comfortable” for humans, except for brief respites (”interglacial periods”) such as the one we are lucky enough to be in presently.

Also note that we would appear to actually be overdue for the next downturn. (My own viewpoint is that “Man” MAY have had / be having an effect, and if so, it has been generally beneficial, compared to the natural cycle (cold).

I realize Wikipedia is not the final authority on these things (who is?), but, this data is generally accepted to be reasonably close...

And in case anyone wonders, yes, I am one of those Christians who can reconcile a very old earth with the story of Genesis.

My friends wife is the lead attorney for a major environmental services company. She met Sarah Palin this summer at a reception in Alaska. The environmental services company does business in Alaska working with major oil companies. Sarah Palin told my friend’s wife that one oil company must clean up some damage to storage facilities or the oil company would not be doing any more business in Alaska. This delusion of the left that conservatives want to harm the environment is garbage. The left only knows obstruction. The environment must be balanced with development.

The thing the Left fails to realize is that Conservatives are better stewards of the environment.

Everyone knows it's because of the right-wingers in China that pollution is worse there than here.

We were talking today about regional implementation of projects under the CA Prop. 50 (water bond.) People had to ask for a time extension because the environmental review process for the projects was taking more than two years to complete - never mind actually building the darned things.

Anybody who can cut back burdensome regulation to a more sane level is fine in my book.
