SurveyUSA: Palin Gets an 'A'
real_clear_politics ^

Posted on 09/04/2008 4:26:47 PM PDT by flyfree

24 hours ago, independent voters nationwide were split on whether Palin was an asset or a liability to McCain's campaign. Today, by a 2:1 margin, independents say Palin is an asset. Overnight, the percentage calling the Alaska governor an asset to the campaign climbed 13 points; the percentage calling her a liability fell 17 points.

The numbers are similar among moderates, who 24 hours ago viewed Palin as a liability by an 11 point margin; today, Palin is seen as an asset by an 18 point margin.

Betting Line Changes:

24 hours ago, when asked if they would bet on Obama or McCain becoming president, Obama was a 16:15 favorite; today, it's flipped, and McCain is favored by the same ratio.

Grading the Speech:

Of those who watched Palin speak last night, 60% give the speech a grade of "A." When those giving lower grades are factored in and a standard grade point average computed on a 4-point scale, Palin scores a "B," overall. Among Republicans, she gets an "A-;" among Independents, a solid "B;" among Democrats, a "C."

McCain is four years tops. Then who knows. I can't see why Palin wouldn't have a leg up in the next cycle.

BTW, I watched Pawlenty last Sunday on MTP and he pretty well bazitch slapped Brokaw when TB started up with the "Palin isn't qualified chit". Looks like the Real Republicans might actually be making a comeback!

Nobama, when not reading a speech off the teleprompter is full of such poor speech hesitations.
One of his aides said that that was because he is “thinking.” HAHAHA!

Another thing Obama does , when he frequently blanks,
is to start shouting out to the audience like they’re suddenly asking him questions.
“ Hold, on there, I’ll get to it,
I hear you now , I know, I know, etc .”
The media buys it,
the rest of us recognize a desperate attempt to buy time to come up with some kind of answer.

Good grief! That’s like a 30 point swing among “independents” and “moderates”.

Those are incredible numbers. Almost unheard of for one speech to get that much movement.

The thing to keep in mind about Indies is that they tend to vote for who they like. If policies mattered to them they would belong to one of the two major policies. Last night, Sarah Palin was off the charts on the "Likeability" factor.

That is the main reason the RATs and MSM are completely unglued today. They know if Obambi loses the Indies by any significant number, he is toast come November.

Last night, the tide turned. The juggernaut that is the conservative base of the Republican Party was given a reason to vote.

When the evangelical conservative base shows up, it’s good night to the competition. When we don’t show up, well, look at 2006.

The evangelical conservative base has now become motivated. It’s over.

Indeed. Palin 2012! That’s all the motivation I need to vote for McCain.

I have no problem with 8 years of McCain, so long as he drills in ANWR and makes Sarah Palin his energy pitbull. His 96-year-old mom is certainly a tough old buzzard. And after 8 years of being Vice President, how are they going to say Sarah America isn’t “qualified”?

There was a thread posted earlier, and I kid you not, but the DUmmies had started a thread about what country to immigrate to if the Republicans win!

Some were a little defiant, and said they’d start a revolution against us, but then another DUmmie, maybe a FReeper plant, said, “Yes, but we adovcate gun control in our areas, and all those redneck red-staters have the guns, how can we fight them?”

To that they all said, “Oh, yeah, $%%%@~!” and went back to talking about likely socialist countries to go to.

My boss came in my office today to talk about Palin. He and his wife are very conservative and they weren’t fans of McCain. I am telling you Palin is really something. He said it’s like a weight has been lifted from his shoulders. He also said for the first time the conservatives are sticking up for themselves. He said he saw Newt just totally smack down some interviewer. There really is an energy and it’s like the glass has been cleaned and we can see a future for ourselves. It’s really remarkable.

We could get a woman President sooner, given McCain's age. It would keep Hillary out of the White House forever!

On the way to work I heard the audio of the Jon Voight video tribute to Sarah Palin, and I thought he said that she is 6 foot tall. Is that right?

How about Iran? I think that would be the perfect place for them. I am sure that they would find living under Islamic law quite a stimulating experience.

Not making that up.

Obama lost the election the second Palin was picked for VP.

2 months to the election still time for the MSM to get Obama elected

I disagree - I’m an independent vet who leans to libertarianism. Policy matters to us independents as much as to any party member. The difference is we don’t assume that the party is always right. Each has issues I disagree with just as not every party candidate is 100% in tune with the party platform. I choose to invest more time in reviewing the candidates than just assuming they are correct based on their party. Don’t generalize. I’ve never been a party member nor do I intend to ever be - but that doesn’t mean I’m an idgit to be talked down to. I’m a citizen.
Now I haven’t posted much (mainly cause I misplaced that darn password forever) but I’m here all the time and let me tell you I am fired big time about about the McCain-Palin ticket. USNA’89, grew up in a small town of 800, absolutely loathe government having anything to do with my families life. Never contributed to a campaign before - but always voted. This year my check is on the way.

This is a DU post from the nuts that want to stay and fight.

How are we going to pull this off? We pretty much pushed for really strict gun control in the progressive states worth living in, like New York, Illinois, New Jersey and California. All of the firearms worth using for something like this are banned and/or really hard to get, even in other states. And if I'm not mistaken, something like 90% of the military are repuke supporters, and you know they'll be fighting to keep the "Union" (if you can call it that anymore) together. So, how would this really work?"

Sorry. Didn't mean to offend. I have several good friends who are Libertarians and are serious about the issues as well.

I still say most Indies are moved more by who they like than what the issues are though.
