Last Day Folks! Thanks for letting me do the threads.
Last night was GREAT! You can tell by the amount of slime that is being thrown us. Break out the poopcorn, it's going to be another late night!
And that is the part of the Constitution that establishes the PURPOSE of the Constitution. Therefore, no interpretation of the Constitution can be accurate if it contradicts the purpose statement. "We the people of the United States, IN ORDER TO..."
In order to = purpose statement.
How in the world did the Scotus EVER get away with ignoring the actual text of the Constitution that insists that these blessings belong ALSO to the POSTERITY (the yet to be born) of the United States?
How? They LIED! Any justice who claims the argument of "precedence" overcomes the actual text is a justice who should be impeached for bad behavior.
LOL!
Read this:
Look at the weasel words in the first paragraph: “except where required under federal law.” So the GOP cannot have it is Platform that we are going to repeal ALL federal laws that give benefits to illegals?
Then read the third paragraph. Hey folks the fix is in; McCain is going to screw us.
Good post. Country First = Secure Borders
Without secure borders you are NOT putting country first.
Your whole post is right on the money, but I'll just repeat the above!
Somebody that knows how needs to start a thread on the GOP illegal immigration Platform - lack thereof.
Universal education
Universal wages
mcamnesty has returned.
I was so pumped after Sarah's speech.
Really, you are the one who brought up the racial component instead of the fact that this is a criminal intrusion on our borders. You seemed more concerned that the demographics will make whites a minority than you did the millions of identities that are stolen and crimes committed. But heck, I'm a nice guy, so I'll give you a chance to dig your way out.
IF you completely remove the illegal immigration factor out of that demographic shift, and it was still happening (and it is w/ out illegals based on the numbers), so the demographic shift is simply birth and death rates- would you still care?
I think the rest of your statement proves my point, it isn't about race, correlation does not equal coordination, first rule of statistics, it is about attitude. Culture (and I will say this is the culture of liberalism, not a racially based culture) is a mantle that an individual chooses to live under- it isn't defined by what race you are.
It is up to us to preach Conservatism - the power of the individual, not to whine to the government about demographic shifts. They blew it taking care of illegals, but that is only a symptom of the culture of liberalism, that isn't the cause of the culture of liberalism.
Contrary to the Axis of Regret at CNN/MSNBC/PBS etc.,
I found the speech to be exactly what one would expect from John McCain. I wasn’t expecting the erudite expertise of Abraham Lincoln. And I sure as hell wasn’t expecting the cotton candy cartoon logic of Barrack Obama.
We had an average speech made by a great American, not a great speech made by a below-average politician. When the dust settles, character is what counts. And I believe the American public is going to weigh the characters of the two candidates and decide that the one who was willing not only to make the ultimate sacrifice, but make it for many years in a Vietnamese torture chamber, is the one who has earned the office of “President”. Make no mistake, this was not a dynamic oration. It was somewhat dull at points. But no slickness in speech can outshine the three minutes in which John McCain demonstrated that a man cannot be a leader unless he’s stared into the abyss. McCain became human last night. He was broken by a power stronger than him, and allowed himself to be carried by his compatriots. You can’t learn empathy for the suffering as an arm’s length “community organizer”. You learn it by sharing in suffering, and McCain knows what it is to suffer for a cause bigger than any political ambition.
This, I hope and believe, is what McCain accomplished last night.
Will anyone remember his speech?
No.
But they will remember the man.
Fight on!

I know Jim & Co. are working on upgrades to eliminate the delays. The activity here always reaches crazy levels during election cycles.

No.
But they will remember the man.
I won’t comment on his speech. But I hope you’re right about remembering the man.
“But they will remember the man.”
I will:

You know all McCain has to do is say, “I’m sorry, I was wrong.” Until that time I have to think John McCain likes John Kerry more than free speech AND THE TRUTH.
Likewise, until that time I have to think you like Barrack Obama more than John McCain.
My concern is that we cannot absorb these kinds of numbers without Balkanizing this country along linguistic and cultural lines. In 1965 the Hispanic population of this country was aboiut 1%. It is now around 16% and will be 30% by 2050, according to recently released Bureau of the Census figures. This is a huge demographic change, which is being fueled by high Hispanic birthrates, triple the general increase, and by immigration with about two thirds of the 1.2 million Legal Immigrants entering the US annually coming from Latin America, and the vast majority of illegals--500,000 to 1 million annually coming from Latin America. I am citing facts and trends and am not alone. In 2004 Harvard Professor Samuel Huntington wrote an excellent article [see link below] about the issue in Foreign Affairs and his book, Who are we? The Challenges to America's National Identity expounds further on the subject. What is happening now is unprecedented in our history.
The Hispanic Challenge By Samuel P. Huntington
IF you completely remove the illegal immigration factor out of that demographic shift, and it was still happening (and it is w/ out illegals based on the numbers), so the demographic shift is simply birth and death rates- would you still care?
That would be a good start. Yes, I would still care. We don't need 1.2 million legal immigrants a year. I would recommend a merit based system [as distinct from the current kinship system.} I would reduce the number of legal immigrants to about 300,000 a year, which was recommended by the Jordan Commission in the 90s. I would eliminate birthright citizenship, which sees about 400,000 to 500,000 persons a year becoming US citizens to non-US citizens purely on where they are born.
Here is an excellent profile of today's immigrant population in the US in 2007.
It is up to us to preach Conservatism - the power of the individual, not to whine to the government about demographic shifts. They blew it taking care of illegals, but that is only a symptom of the culture of liberalism, that isn't the cause of the culture of liberalism.
It is up to us conservatives to defend the rule of law and preserve this nation's patrimony, which has provided the foundation of the greatest nation the earth has ever seen. Government immigration policies are changing this nation dramatically and the people have not had a say in the results. Unless the people become educated about this issue, the country will be destroyed as we know it. We are like the proverbial frog being slowly boiled alive and not realizing it until it is too late.
I am tired of people calling us racists, nativists, and bigots because we want this issue addressed. I am married to an immigrant. My grandmother was an immigrant. I grew up in an immigrant neighborhood and spent 25 years of my adult life in nine different countries. I have no problem with other cultures, races, ethnic groups, etc. But if we don't address this problem in a sane way and continue to demigog it, this country will be destroyed. It is already happening.
You want to cure a cold, don't just blow your nose, go after the virus. Blowing your nose only is a temporary fix for your nose.
Neither Obama, nor McCain are going to improve the illegal immigration issue, but one of those two will be President. At least we have leverage with McCain, just as we had leverage with Bush over Meyers and Amnesty. The responsibility is back in our hands.
And immigration is not the only issue!
Even if it’s important...
McCAIN is a one-term candidate...
I am right handed so am I going to say it is OK to cut off my left arm.
McCain is extremely bad news. He may be slightly better than Obama but he is just as obnoxious and on immigration NO BETTER. He is just a bit more sneaky.
