Excerpts: Remarks by Alaska Governor Sarah Palin Vice Presidential Nominee to Address the 2008 Republican National Convention
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - This evening Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican Partys vice presidential nominee, will address the 2008 Republican National Convention. Excerpts from the governors remarks, as prepared for delivery, are below.
On her experience as a public servant:
"I had the privilege of living most of my life in a small town. I was just your average hockey mom, and signed up for the PTA because I wanted to make my kids public education better. When I ran for city council, I didnt need focus groups and voter profiles because I knew those voters, and knew their families, too. Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown. And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities."
On why she is going to Washington, D.C.:
"Im not a member of the permanent political establishment. And Ive learned quickly, these past few days, that if youre not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone. But heres a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: Im not going to Washington to seek their good opinion - Im going to Washington to serve the people of this country."
On energy policies that the McCain-Palin administration will implement:
"Our opponents say, again and again, that drilling will not solve all of Americas energy problems - as if we all didnt know that already. But the fact that drilling wont solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all. Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, were going to lay more pipelines...build more nuclear plants...create jobs with clean coal...and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources. We need American energy resources, brought to you by American ingenuity, and produced by American workers."
On John McCain:
"Heres how I look at the choice Americans face in this election. In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change."

I think the Media has it wrong. With all the sharks in the water talk, they assume we are worried because the Media sharks are in the water.
Actually,,,it’s the Media’s blood that’s in the water and THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE THE SHARKS! We smell blood and we are just getting started! Sarah will never play a victim and McCain won’t either.
(Insert theme from ‘Jaws’ here)
That’s a point. Maybe they’re curious about feedback?

BOOM SHAKA-LAKA!!!!!!

Im sorry... Im not getting the community organizer dig. Can some one explain?
Seriously? You’re not aware that one of the cornerstone jobs of Barack Obama’s resume is Community organizer? Have you just awoken from a year-long coma?
Sorry, reegs, but geez, pay attention!
Reegs let me warn you. If you GOOGLE the terms ‘Obama’ and ‘community organizer’ you probably will come up with 100,000s of hits. He inhales “community” and exhales “organizer.” It’s his claim to fame.
In my minds eye, I see Barry and Uncle Joe clutching their crotch from direct hits to the beans.. :)
Bare knuckles politics working mom style. I like it..
If they use shrill, we can draw on speech archives of others. Oh, say, SHRILLery?
I would have prefered they didnt release the community organizer line to the press before hand. It may lessen the effect of it when we hear it.
Its a great line.
they need to package sarah as the energy czar/VP...she is THE most qualified of all 4 of them for that job, and with energy being such an integral part of the overall economy, she will be seen as a HUGE benefit
***McCain/Palin 08***
...also, here’s how mccain needs to handle the claims she’s not ready to fill his shoes should he die:
“...from the day she takes office, Palin will get daily briefings and sit on the National Security Council with the president and secretaries of state, treasury and defense.
She will be up to speed in her first year.”

...also, he should appt someone like lieberman as sec of state, along with an atty gen, and a sec of treasury ASAP

Well, I guess they could file for Workman’s Comp if that happens.
Holy Crap, Batman!
Hope the ticket gets the coattails it needs to get this through Congress.

Ever since campaign finance laws, the tactic of ‘hit high/hit low’ has become more powerful than ever. Note how Obama hits high while the DUmmies and old media hits low. Note how Bush hit high in 04 while the Swiftboaters came out with 527s.
N.O.W. said that? Thanks for the visual. I’m now going to wash my brain out with clorox.
Hey, you aren’t Sarah Palin are you?
ROFL!
