I plan on sending off a letter of encouragement to Sarah and John. I’d encourage others to do so as well. These two are going to need our prayers and support through what could be a real battle. But I think the rats have truly underestimated their opponent. Let’s hope and pray we are celebrating a McCain win in November.

If you want to get beyond silly comparisons, fine. Fact remains, Sarah Palin is no Ronald Reagan --- not now, not ever. Reagan is a conservative icon. Palin is a newcomer. See me in 20 years and you may have a case.

>>>>> ... this is a thread of thanks to Sarah Palin.

Thanks Sarah Palin for accepting the opportunity McCain gave you to RUN for VPOTUS. And watch out Joe Biden.

Palin's credentials are solid conservative. Not my first choice, but a good choice by McCain, nonetheless. Johnny Mac showed a lot of courage picking Palin. Let's see if we conservatives can celebrate a victory over the Democrats in November. Then it'll be time to govern.

>>>>>>Governor Palin, I see the next Ronald Reagan in you.
That is ridiculous.

Welllllll, as Ronnie would say:

Does she look like Ronald Reagan - No.
Is she as tall as Ronald Reagan - No.
Was she a film/movie star - No.

Does she have the ability to think on her feet = Yes

Does she answer your questions (as stupid as they may be) and still have a smile on her face (knowing she is knocking the knees out from under you = Yes

Does she inspire others like Ronald Reagan did = Yes

Does she make people feel better about the US = Yes

Does she make people feel there is hope = Yes

Does she unify the Republican Party = YES

Are she and her husband a strong/tight couple = Yes

That is what those of us who loved Reagan see in the next VPOTUS Sarah Palin

Praise the Lord!!!

Sarah, I know you are staying strong and staying in the race. Thank you, don’t dignify the attacks with a response, they don’t deserve it. Stay focused on the fact that they are spreading lies about your accomplishments and your office. Tell Obama it is “Governor Sarah Palin, to you.” They want to distract you by using your family and neither you or your family deserve that. I am really sorry to see this happen to you, but the damage is done and now all that can be done is showing the people that would attack your daughter and you that they aren’t the decider of your fate. You are in charge of how you live your life and your supporters are in charge of deciding if they will or will not support you. I will continue to support you on the Presidential ticket. You are qualified, you are more qualified than both Democrats put together on their ticket.

Thank you also for showing the world that a real family can have flaws and still love each other. Thank you for choosing life. It is about time someone with a strong voice defends the right of the most helpless, to live.

If Palin gets elected VPOTUS then you can start with the kudos. Not until then.

>>>>> That is what those of us who loved Reagan see in the next VPOTUS Sarah Palin

I still love Reagan. Sarah Palin is no Ronald Reagan.

Dear Sarah,

Thanks for your willingness to stand. God’s very best to you, your husband, and your family.

When the vitriol from unprincipled people comes in like a flood, know that it simply serves to galvanize those millions of Americans who see through the lies and cheap attacks.

Dear Sarah, I live in Wasilla and I am sure you may recall hearing my name in concrete circles, hint: my outfit delivered to the Houston railroad overpass, Hyer and Trunk Road projects and a couple of schools, anyway I am saddened that you must bear the vindictive s of a shameless group of people that are stooping so low they need a stepladder to wipe a halibuts rear end.

Your toughest s days are now, you are chosen by destiny unlike others that were built up by groups that are not concerned about America’s future just that they can maintain their positions of power and manipulation.

You will always have your community behind you wishing and praying for you, some say you are as James Stewart was in Mr. Smith goes to Washington, perhaps it would make a good movie to rent for an evening, never the less by being what you are you have re-kindle an unbridled passion that America has not seen in years, many fear it and fear you and they are yelping like a wolf in a trap.

Please be strong for Alaska and be you, that is what everybody loves about you, McCain needs your support and the two of you I am sure can lead America through any crisis be in within or around the globe, so I wish for you to keep your strength and that you never back off of your goals.

A friend of many back home.

Dear Sarah,

The events of this election cycle can not just be a coincidence.

We in America are being given such an open and shut case of choosing a culture of life over a culture of death.

The candidate for the presidency from the Dem’s has a more pro abortion rating than NARAL, to the point of supporting infanticide and viewing unintended pregnancies as a punishment.

His VP pick although claiming to be Catholic has supported all abortion bills presented before him.

On the other hand, we have a Presidential candidate, who literally was handed his adopted daughter by Mother Teresa (soon to be named a saint)

Our VP candidate refused to abort her son when told that he would have Down’s Syndrome and who has encouraged and is supporting her daughter to give birth to her child.

It can not be a coincidence.

Many will scoff, but I see us at a turning point in this country.

I pray we make the right turn.

Yeah what Eye of Unk said. Our family circle feels the same way about you Governor and we are damn proud of you. And remember their VP selection has a strong record of plagiarism and he is their best - good grief. We love you and trust you will give em hell so they know what it's like before they get there.
Thanks for the great post Eye.

You don’t get it. No one can be Ronald Reagan.
What we see are the likenesses. No one else since Reagan has shown those characteristics.
Hopefully since you use the name of Reagan, you will have some positive things to say instead of only negative connatations. I know the Real Reagan worked with positives instead of negatives, hope you don’t use his name in vain.....
There is, was, and only ever will be one Ronald Reagan!

Sorry to have hijacked the thread, just hate it when someone has to throw a bucket of ice water on a flickering flame for the republican party.

Sarah, Keep going, the republican party has never been as energized as this since Reagan.

You Sarah are the new face of the party........so party on!!

Country first.

Yes, that’s what you have done, Sarah. In accepting the nomination you have placed love and service to your country first.

Thank you for stepping into the line of fire on our behalf.

You are fighting the good fight, Sarah.

Thank you!

Once more—the purpose of the thread was to thank Sarah for running for VP. John McCain offered her the position, but SHE nade the decision to take it.

I said that I see the next Ronald Reagan in her, and I stand by that statement.

You said Sarah Palin is not Ronald Reagan, not now, not ever. You don’t know that for a fact.

So the only one being silly is you.

I followed Reagan since 1976. I knew greatness when I saw it then, and I see it once again in Sarah. No one in the GOP even comes close, now or since.

Now stop defaming his name with your inane judgments of others’ opinions.

>>>>>>You don’t get it. No one can be Ronald Reagan.

Exactly. That is what I told you. Guess you were listening. Thanks for agreeing with me.

My handle is out of respect for a great American. It doesn't mean I run around fawning over every candidate the GOP places in nomination. I did offer my opinion of Sarah Palin in post #84. Guess you missed that.

If any candidate wants my vote, they must earn it.

And what did I say?

"Thanks Sarah Palin for accepting the opportunity McCain gave you to RUN for VPOTUS. And watch out Joe Biden."

I see reading comprehension is one of your strong suits.

And I think you're hallucinating.

I'm defaming no one. Not Reagan or Palin. You're acting like a teenager, in "love" for the first time. Its called infatuation. Anyone who compares Palin to Reagan, is acting audacious.
