My Dear Governor Palin:

Madam, we are only too proud and grateful that you have assumed the terrible responsibility of campaigning for Vice-President of the United States.

Your courageous decision, in the face of overwhelming hate and vitriol directed against you and your family, has galvanized Americans across the land.

Your foes and opponents are legion; indeed they are the majority of the citizenry right now. Take heart in knowing that I, and countless veterans like me, appreciate that you understand the value of leading by example; and that your example has been sorely needed for our country.

You have provided all of us with a standard to rally behind, and the courage to move forward into a future for this nation: not in a slouch toward Socialism, but in the direction of Ronald Reagan’s great city on the hill.

We here at Free Republic can only wish you and your family all good fortune, and the promise we will wholeheartedly support you in the grueling months to come.

Yours Sincerely,

OLD SARGE

>>>>>>Governor Palin, I see the next Ronald Reagan in you.

That is ridiculous.

Step one, lets see if she gets to be VPOTUS. Many conservatives like Palin, that doesn't mean she's some future rightwing icon in the making.

Dear Governor Palin: While I do not, can not and will not support your religious beliefs or your beliefs regarding family planning and do not want them imposed upon me or my family I like everything else you stand for. I therefore, can, do and will support you and will vote for the McCain-Palin ticket.

Sarah, hang in there. The backbone of this nation—the working families, the small town denizens need some representation in Washington DC, a city that long ago forgot about middle America except as a source of taxation. You have the experience, wisdom and common sense to give a voice to values which are endangered when government is run by autocrats who presume the privilege of governing the “common people” for their own good. Your voice is needed. Your example of living your principles, of forgiving and loving will surely encourage the next generation to stay the course and love this country again as much as do you. We will be praying for you, your family and Senator McCain and his family to lead this nation in the direction it is destined to go.

Thank you, Governor Palin. The Republican ticket is all I could ever ask for. While I am sorry that the issues of your son, and of your daughter’s pregnancy have come up in any way, I am psychologist enough to know that the best indicator of what a person will do is what they have done in the past. You stuck with your core values in both of these situations. I suspect, therefore, that across the spectrum of core values, you are going to do the right thing every time. Ronald Reagan was the last president I remember that always proved to be what he presented himself to be.

Senator McCain’s steadfastness as a POW established him as a person who took to heart Shakespeare’s great lines—”This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell; my blessing season this in thee!”

Both of you have shown more integrity than I have seen in most politicians heretofore in my 72 years of life. Thank you so much.

Sarah,

Yes, thank you for accepting the challenge of running with John McCain. Obviously you will suffer the slings and arrows, aspersions and hateful rumor mongering of the opposition. We know you and your family will be strong. You have the gratitude of a nation that is in desperate need of finding it’s moral center.

Also thank you for being a role model and the kind of woman I want my daughters to grow up to be.

Mike, Amy, Kelsey and Cassie

Dear Sarah-

I humbly relinquish my title of Republican Warrior Princess to you. You have proven without a shadow of a doubt that you are the epitome of that title, both in public and private life. I am proud to call you a sister in conservatism, and proud that you are a shining example of what our gender can do.

Now go kick some liberal butt!

Sincerely,

RWP

For someone who uses Ronald Reagan as his screenname, I would think you would recognize Reagan’s qualities in Sarah Palin.

Obviously you do not. And I have noticed you have said the same thing to others who link Reagan with Palin.

First of all, this is my opinion.

Second, this is a thread of thanks to Sarah Palin. Why do you have to stink it up with your self righteous opinion of whether or not Palin rises to your estimation of Reagan’s greatness?

Palin has inspired me, as a conservative, as no other politician since Ronald Reagan in 1980.

Now, why don’t you run along and pass judgment on someone else for a change? I’m sure they will be thrilled with having your brilliance shining upon them as I was.
