I used to work for Gulf Oil. Pickens was the (expletive deleted) that attempted a hostile takeover in the early 80's. He set the stage for Chevron to take over Gulf and I got laid off (my other choice was to move to San Francisco).
As long as I live I will never work for a company like Gulf. It was a real joy to go to work then.
