Palin Shocker: How Will It Play?
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 9/01/08 | Carla Marinucci

St. Paul, Minnesota -- The GOP is starting its meetings -- scaled down, for sure, but happening -- here at the Xcel Energy Center, and the buzz is huge: how does the news of Sarah Palin's 17 year old daughter's pregnancy upset the cart? Or does it?

GOP folks here roundly insist no; Democrats outside the convention center say, are you kidding? Of course it does.

On one hand: Pro-life types love the fact that the daughter is getting married and keeping the child, and social conservatives are very into the Alaska Governor.

We saw that this morning at the Califonria delegation breakfast, where speaker after speaker -- like former California Secretary of State -- hit the talking points that she has more experience than Barack Obama.

It will backfire, and they are off message.

When they wake up to those two facts, I hope it is too late for them.

Yes.... it is God's desire that we should not sin, but, the Bible tells us that " ALL have sinned and have come short to the glory of God " ... if we were sinless, then ? there would have been no need for Jesus Christ to have died on the cross.
At least they didn't try to hid it, as long as were are honest with God about our sin.... God will show us mercy.
The proud as those who don't want to confess their sins, God says " God resists the proud, but, gives grace to the humble "

Yes, we should NOT excuse sin, but, it happens.
Do you suppose one of the greatest saints in the Bible who wrote 2/3rds of the New Testament didn't struggle with sin ?
The Apostle Paul here in the 7th Chapter of Romans does not excuse sin ( that is for those heretic hunters who say " but, this does not give us a license to sin " ) but, Paul is saying, that sin does happen and we still struggle with it.
Romans 7 (King James Version)

1. Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

2. For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.

3. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

4. Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

5. For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

6. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

7. What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

8. But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

9. For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

10. And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

11. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

12. Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

13. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

14. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

15. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

16. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

17. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

18. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

19. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

20. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

21. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

22. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

23. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

24. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

25. I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Under God's standard and law....... ALL of us humans are guilty and rightfully deserve to be judged and die under God's law and righteous standards.
However ? God does not judge us under the old original standard..... GOD has already judged our sin ( s ) in our Saviour Jesus Christ... God punished OUR sin ( s ) on the body of Jesus Christ..... Jesus Christ has paid it ALL.
Now God judges us with Jesus Christ RIGHTEIOUSNESS..... Jesus Christ is our righteousness.... when we trust and believe on Jesus Christ and ask him to come into our lives and hearts,,,,, God's sees Jesus's blood and righteousness.

Let me ask the heretic hunters who say " but, but, it does not give us a license to sin "
well well then ? do you sin ? because if you say you don't, you make God a lier.
ALL have sinned and have come short to the Glory of GOD.

Sorry gracesdad for the long winded response.
We need to pray for the Palin family because the devils, demons are all out in rage, because they know what this means.... Roe vs Wade might be overturned if John McCain appoints a strict constitutional conservative judges.

Ok let me get these “rules” that the driveby media seems to thinks exists.
Obama having relationships with not one but many marxist, socialists, terrorists and communists doesn’t need to be reported. They aren’t willing to spread rumors any further.

However the 17 year old daughter who in all other circumstances would have their name withheld because they are a minor and isn’t running for election and hasn’t done anything illegal, and no coverup was ever attempted, is acceptable.

They have really really sunk to the lowest of the low.

I don’t care whether the mother or father is a liberal or conservative - This is going to come back and bite them in the but. Every mother or father of teenagers should be outraged that this poor girl’s personal life is being discussed all over the internet.

This is disgusting - Plagerism wasn’t even brought up when Biden was introduced.

Is it remotely possible that someone way way higher had a hand in this pick of Sarah for VP whether it turns out well for our side or not? I see this family as a living witness, scandal or no scandal. Maybe that is too simplistic.

Could it possibly be a wake-up call for the world to see and not just a clever stacking the ticket by a maverick politician? I guess it could be seen as many different things, depending on who is doing the seeing and how they interpret it.

Whether we win or lose, this is not going to be forgotten by many on both sides, especially young people and especially when they get older and mature.

I don't mean to imply that we should use the family as a banner for the pro-life cause. They are just an ordinary family like some of the rest of us, even though she has accomplished many things that I couldn't have done with that many children. I don't fault her for it.

If this had happened to someone on the other side, I can't think of anything similar recently involving a liberal pol with a teenage daughter who got pregnant and decided not to have an abortion. The Edwards' case is even commendable, don't know what the woman's true motives were, but at least she didn't abort that child. Even though I believe Edwards made an error in judgment like so many do, I haven't bashed him or his family about it. It was a human weakness, but I don't see the child as a mistake or punishment. The late John Paul II, said that a child is a gift from our Heavenly Father (he didn't use that term but I'm being sensitive to someone I recently conversed with about that. He didn't qualify that remark IIRC. That I won't forget unless my mind goes.

No, mostly moderates.

So if I understand you correctly, you are saying that moderates are prigs about a teenage girl getting pregnant. I haven't heard any priggishness coming from conservatives. So why do you suppose moderates are such prigs and conservatives aren't?

They’re attacking the very premise of abstinence-only education. Their problem isn’t the sex, it’s the consequences.

Abstinence education does not teach that teenage girls never get pregnant. It offers an ideal that will never be reached 100% of the time. The people who advocate this type of education also know that people are not robots. Some girls are going to get pregnant. That does not alter the real reason for this education in the first place, namely to increase respect for sex, but mostly to respect the love of a man and a woman.

Let me offer an extreme analogy. And let me emphasis that it is very extreme. But I offer it in the hope that my point will be very clear. We have laws against drunk driving. And yet people do get drunk and drive. Since some people do not obey the law, should we do away with that law? I would say no. The reason the law is in place is because people do indeed get drunk and drive.

Now, I am not equating a form of education with a law. Nor am I advocating any sort of law against teenage girls who get pregnant and some sort of punishment. I am instead making an analogy to explain my point. And my point is that just because some teenage girls are going to get pregnant is no reason not to teach abstinence.

The opponents seem to be saying that we must be standing on the moon before we get there, and because we cannot stand on the moon before we get there, we should never try to go there. I don't find that argument to be convincing.

Don’t you remember those horrible Bush twins? Didn’t they drink some booze and they weren’t even 21.

I was as shocked and disappointed then as I am now to find out that Bush was not God and couldn’t/didn’t control everything that his children did.

What America needs is a powerful politician who can show that he/she can control their own children and everyone else.

We need some Commie idiot.

NOT

Good point....I think all the people here trying to explain away Palin’s forthcoming grandchild are missing the picture here...this is an opening for them to attack abstinence only education.

I don't see it that way. They have tens of thousands of such opportunities every year. One more won't matter. In fact, a high profile "opportunity" in which they do the right thing and their lives change so profoundly seems to me like an excellent teachable moment for responsible parents.

" The GOP keeps touting itself as the party of 'family values'"
That is something that we strive for, but, in this fallen world, that will be impossible to obtain until Jesus Christ returns and sets things right..... we will never be perfect, only forgiven.
As Saint Paul says ( Philippians 3:14 : " I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." )
We Press on to maturity in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
We press onto that goal through adversity, trials, and tribulation.

I remember the day my grandparents celebrated their 50th anniversary. It only dawned on me a few days later that my dad would turn 50 in just 5 months.

We can’t choose our mothers, but we are responsible for raising our daughters. If Obama’s unmarried 16 year old daughter got pregnant, what would that say about him and Michelle?

I have confidence that this would not happen in Obama's family. Michelle would take their daughter to get the problem "fixed", and they would truthfully answer the question that evening. "No, that is a viscious rumor. My daughter is not pregnant," where the truth of the answer depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is, and since she would no longer be pregnant after making the correct choice to avoid being punished with a baby, it would be true. Based on his votes and speeches, Obama would even be okay with killing the baby after an accidental live birth if the abortionist didn't finish the job correctly.

Here’s what I find amazing. John Edwards, during his race with John Kerry, has a long term affair with his personal photographer, and they have a child together. he then takes campaign money, and shifts it through one of his managers, to pay his mistress 18K per month, for “services rendered”. When almost caught at this during his run for the presidency, his “loyal” manager announces the love child is his, not John’s. We then find out that this guy is receiving 20K per month from John for “services rendered”. When he finally comes out and says he had an affair that ended years ago, we also find out that he has been sneaking over the see this girl many times each year. Yet MSM, CNN, CBS, ABC are not interested in the story, saying to keep away from it as it’s just tabloid stuff. Hello! Tabloid stuff?

Yet these same people can’t wait to attack a 17 year old and her judgment.

I’m not arguing that we shouldn’t teach abstinence, or that moderate voters are prigs.

I’m simply saying that many will see Palin as an irresponsible parent for denying birth control to her daughter—abstinence education or no.

And the Dims will try to scare voters into thinking that Palin would want to deny contraceptives to teenagers. And what I’m saying is that that attack is working.

Trig Palin is God's Diamond in the ruff.... as God says:

Jeremiah 1 verses 4 - 10

4. Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

5. Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

6. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

7. But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

8. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

9. Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

10. See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant

Jeremiah 29 verses 11 - 13

11. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

12 .Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

13. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

" I agree. Remember how well it worked when Elizabeth Edwards outed the Cheney's daughter? "
But this time, they are going after a innocent baby with Downs Syndrome..... they are going after someone who is totally defenseless.. and this kind of thing really really really ticks GOD off.... God defends the innocent and defenseless.
I will be bold enough to go on to say, that a attack on this defenseless baby, is a attack on God personally.
