Some of them are attacking John McCain for "lying" to them. Some of them can't get their dates straight. Some of them have infinite political wisdom and see this as a true disaster. Fortunately you are right, their numbers are small and dwindling.
There’s a country song about this. “I’m so much cooler on the Internet” or something like that. Reading many threads I notice that there are people who read nothing but the Bible all day long, have never had sex outside of marriage, keep fit and trim all day long (on any thread related to weight), have never sinned in their lives. At least according to the posts I read when it comes to big discussions like this.
Some of them are just trolls trying to poison the well.
The rest are misguided, and a little self-righteous.
