Just as Bristol Palin isn't the VP candidate, neither is Ann Durham running for President. (And Ann didn't have an abortion either).

Barack Obama has a lot of stuff that can be attacked. Mom shouldn't be part of it.

Excellent point; concur

There are stark foreign and domestic policy differences between the two campaigns that will affect all of our lives, as well as the lives of those around the world. These are the issues that matter most in this election.

The world is already dangerous. It becomes more dangerous if Obama is Commander in Chief of US Armed Forces, as he will make us a soft, weak target through his policy decisions which will in turn be supported and confirmed by a Democrat Congress and the liberal judges he will appoint and they will confirm. We need McCain/Palin to win and the Republicans to hold the Congress to as close to no net loss as possible.

Mom is part of it. Grandparents too. They all make us what we are. Obama's family has a history of cutting out when the going gets tough. We learn the habits of a family. It takes an extra effort to throw it off.

Everybody is an individual, but we are also part of a family and part of family heritage. We inherit not only physical traits such as athleticism, strength, intelligence, skin color, body type, height -- but how we approach the world, how we handle duty, how honest we are.

Obama's relationship to his mother is a key to his personality. What other history has he made for himself?

His book is called "Dreams of My Father" -- by his own pen has he asked us to examine his family.

A person and a family can be like a house. Some houses have to be torn down -- they are so far gone, or the foundation is flawed in a way that can not be fixed otherwise. In such cases you have to take the person away, in a hard way, from everything he is familiar with, give him no bearings no place of memory to hold onto (because the bad habits are there too) and then you can build him up again, and invest him with good habit and a positive outlook both earned. That's a form of discipline armies are familiar with, but rarer in a general society.

Clearly the Palin family is very far from being such a house. They have problems which fall under regular maintenance and repairs. No need to talk to tear them down.

But we have in our society many families of bad habit and a culture that tolerates, indulges and even celebrates such habits. Families like that need the strongest of rebukes and being set apart from by the many.

Only then will such louts of families decide to better themselves.

Trying to graft goodness on a bad foundation will not work. The foundation has to be replaced first. And that means a tear down phase.
