ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Nothing wrong with that. There's no requirement that you raise your baby if you are not ready or able when there are loving folks with the means to do so. To think otherwise is selfish.
I can't count the number of abortions I know about.
That's just sick. The *only* abortion I know about was had by a teacher who came to church to talk about how it continued to haunt her. Truth be told, that's one more than I wish I knew about. The statistics are staggering to one's conscience enough, just a single individual story is a near insurmountable burden to carry. I can't imagine knowing so many "I can't count" any more.
Amen!

sorry Bommer, I didn’t know it was Pissant making the calculations. Pissant probably isn’t a woman, because I’m telling ya, I don’t know of any woman being sexually active a week or two after giving birth (if he is insinuating that).
He may show up on “Dangerous Catch” or on “Ice Road Truckers”.
I don’t give a rat’s a** about something from the 80’s. This is getting beyond ridiculous.
But this ...
"My only objection is that McCain, who knew about it, needed to get it out on day 1, not day 4."
I doubt that ... Palin was hiding her daughter's pregnancy, understandably, of course. I feel Mac didn't vet her completely.
Stop the political BS. You know darn well, if Obama or some other leftist running for President or VP had a teenager come up pregnant just before an election, the Republicans would have an field day with it. The hypocrisy is running real deep.
That was the term used on this very website in re Jamie Lynn Spears, and not by me, either.
I've been defending the governor on another website against the charge in re Trig. I'm disappointed and frustrated by this news, which pulls the rug out from under that defense to some extent.
A number of posts here have compared it to, e.g., Bill Clinton, or the circumstances of BHO's own conception. Sorry, folks, that's using logic and playing fair. The Democrats won't do that (and this should come as no surprise!), but the bigger issue is that their obedient lapdogs in the MSM won't play fair, either. The "truth detectors" on our side will be working overtime to keep up with them.
The bigger worry for me, personally, is the ammo it gives to the anti-abstinence, pro-BC crowd. ("Look, your own VP, a Christian, couldn't keep her daughter chaste! It's impossible! Neener, neener!) The election, I'm not necessarily as worried about.
Bristol Palin is not underage. In her homestate of Alaska, the age of consent is 16. Bristol is 17.
Good idea. My first grandchild was a surprise of the same sort. I wouldn't trade her for anything in this world. She is the most wonderful addition to my world.
How do we handle this?
Didn't Ronald Reagan marry Nancy when she was already pregnant with Patty?
Did that keep you from voting for Reagan?
Back when Reagan was running for President, did you then make the same demands that he drop out of the race, for his "poor judgement?"
If not, is this case different because the candidate is a woman?
Palin's husband could be a bitter, angry activist who hates his country.
Palin's best friend could be an unrepentent murdering radical who only avoided prison because of a technicality and who thinks it funny that the pipe bombs he set back in the '70's killed people. "Guilty as hell and free as a bird!"
Palin could be worshipping at the altar of a radical, slimy, racist preacher who screeches "God damn America!" every weekend.
Palin's background could include being a "community organizer" for ACORN, the group with more ties to voter fraud than any other "community" group in history.
In fact, experience with ACORN could be the ONLY experience she had, in addition to 140 days of sitting around and listening to people yammer in the Senate, but not bothering to head any committees.
Palin could have admitted to a cocaine problem "back in the day."
Palin could be using Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" as her Bible, casting suspicions on her ideology as being Communist.
Palin's supporters could be so radically far left that they would laugh at the prospects of bad things happening to the country because they can turn it around and blame their enemies for things such as natural disasters.
Palin could be out there proudly proclaiming how she will single-handedly destroy the economy using class warfare and astronomical tax raises.
Palin could be such a far-left nutjob herself that she believes the military isn't important and should just be disbanded and the money used on welfare programs for people who aren't even citizens of this country.
Palin could be out there saying that we should sit down and have tea with our enemies (Iraq) while invading those countries who may not be friendly, but at least receptive (Pakistan).
In fact, Palin could be out there pronouncing Pakistan as "POCKY-stahn," annoying me in no small way.
Palin could be all of the above things, and running for PRESIDENT of the United States.
Things really could be so, so much worse.
But they aren't.
Good analysis.
Normal, that it is.
It will cost him dearly with many voters.
What voters?
Was this what was supposed to be some “kller news” about Mrs. Palin.
Wish it hadn’t happened, but there are worse things.
Sorry, I am really offended by the timing...looks like they are trying to sweep under the rug....Why not just be upfront about all of this when they introduced them to the world...
You hit the nail right on the head!
I’m right behind you with a letter of support!
