What in the world was wrong with that statement? We DON’T know how the kids will handle all this. We hope and pray it works out, but the deck is stacked against them.
If we really are pro-life, we need to be for the ENTIRE life of the child, not just it’s birth. Yes, some teen marriages work and some young couples raise fine upstanding children. But the odds are not in their favor.
Is it un PC to point out that they have a much harder road than those who do it in the proper order? And these days, cultural influences make it even tougher than it was 50, 60 years ago. Divorce is not the stain it once was and we live in a world that discourages self-sacrifice. These kids will have to mature quickly and I truly, truly do hope they will.
In the best interest of the children is a liberal mantra that is espoused to do untold injustice on masses of good people.
That is your opinion...just one person's opinion, you are entitled to that.
That does not, however, make it factual.
I personally know more than one true life examples of both sides of the argument that would prove you dead wrong.
Each circumstance is UNIQUE and special until it's self. Your generalization and one shoe fits all, blanket statement is what I found fault with. ... and still do!
My opinion.
Good point. Their daughter came second, though perhaps they are fed up with her antics. She certainly gave them no consideration.
I do honestly hope they do a fine job raising their child.
Why is adoption somehow not as good of a choice as keeping the child?
So no one should put babies up for adoption unless they are mentally unfit or abusive?!
What’s wrong with that statement is that you have no way of knowing whether it’ll work out for them or not, you’re assuming it won’t.
Oh, of course we all know of circumstances where surprise babies were raised wonderfully by young parents. I don’t dispute that for a moment.
But if you look at the larger picture, there are higher rates of divorce among teen couples. I absolutely hope they will not be part of that, of course.
It just seems that there is a bias AGAINST adoption, that it is somehow a lesser option.
McCain is now in favor of drilling ANWR, so the only man we could elect president who WOULDN'T drill ANWR is...Barack Hussein Obama.
Ah, at last, someone speaks the truth of "operation chaos:...ALLOW hillary to be elected.
I think McCain is the same as Hillary.
Three words...Supreme Court Justices.
Funny. FoxNews left off the last part about his mother having him at 18.
I am saying that a couple with a strong, proven marriage is more likely to withstand the stresses of parenting.
I am going by generalities, yes, and also common sense.
Of course they could make it! I do hope so.
I don’t know if this makes it any better, but apparently the pregnancy has been common knowledge in their town. So hopefully she has dealt with the hardest part already.
Well said. Whenever I see one of “our” guys doing something that I want to excuse away, I always ask how I would react if it were a Clinton doing it. Keeps me more honest, I think.
Can you imagine if this were Chelsea pregnant?
I am not biased AGAINST adoption, but, unlike you, I am not biased FOR adoption, either.
I personally know more than one adoptive home that did NOT escape divorce. Adoption does not equal utopia...unfortunately.
We can all point to personal experiences that prove or disprove any generality, so that is not usually a strong rhetorical tool.
I am absolutely pro-adoption, and I help place babies in great homes all the time. The couples giving up these children are not without resources, financial and social, and they love their babies. I see it in their eyes when they turn over the child. Their hearts break—But they want to give their child a more certain future.
Some of the “she’ll be surrounded by a loving family” sounds suspiciously like “it takes a village”. Ultimately, child-rearing is the responsibility of one man and one woman creating a nuclear family.
I was going to mention that Ronald Reagan’s kids were not what you would call normal or supportive of their father’s politics. When he was running for office, his kids were out there saying they were voting for Carter.
You can’t control your kids.
Hmmmm...and WHO has the rhetoric and the agenda attempting to prove her UNBENDING, UNFACTUAL positions?
You have taken a ludicrous stand that adoption is ALWAYS the best route. Adoption is an honorable path and sometimes the better path...it is however, NOT ALWAYS the best path! Period.
You are NOT going to win this argument!
Get over it!
That would not have been something you would have to worry about...with her on the ticket, Obama might as well be sworn in now and we could all forget the misery of a General. ... because as you said, Hutchison is also older, and she seems a little dull. and would have inspired and energized no one!
