ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

It is a mistake. Sarah Palin and her family, instead of embracing abortion and compromising their principles have simply done the best to turn a 'mistake' into better situation, namely a wonderful granchild and future son in law. It makes her family seem a lot more human and down to earth than the elitist dipwads we have in washington.
For all the ones claiming that she should resign because the heat is too much for her family, get off your high horses. People are people, while we may think it started with a mistake, it will end much better than it could have. Mark my words, this is going to piss her off, and she will come out swinging.
There's a reason she has the nickname Barracuda.
You are wrong about the pill.
Also, Monty Python, though the troupe was incredibly funny, isn't my moral compass so it isn't relevent.
Abortion (Roe v. Wade) is the fruit of the sexual revolution and the relaxing of Christian standards toward contraceptives in the early 1900's.
I don’t like teen girls being put in front of the news like Jamie Lynn Spears.
There is a big difference between sending her out to a rally on the national stage and letting her privately deal with this. The Palins want privacy, but then they are out in the public. When you run for a national office, you do lose privacy.
I only got emotional after being purposely and hatefully misquoted. If someone said you hated babies you would get a little emotional too, or at least you should (if your Christian as I am)...
You would perhaps become even hotter if they did it a second time just for spite (or to spit in your face)...
Don't expect me to run from someone that does that... I will fight...
>>Illegitimacy is illegitimacy, and getting knocked up outside the bounds of marriage is getting knocked up outside the bounds of marriage.<<
You seriously think that a self-evident statement like the one I made (quoted above) is unprovable? What passes for “can be proven” in your universe?
So, she is a going to be a mom....
Has the child been aborted?????
Normal family, normal issues....
It is called life.
I suggest you never misquote me again.
Someone on another website pointed to photos of Obama, from 1983-1986, wearing a wedding ring.
Anyone else notice this? Could he have been married and divorced before marrying Michelle LaVaughn Robinson?
If he had to get married young, maybe by shotgun, all the resentment towards unwed pregnancy would be explained?
Look, Of course it would be better if a teen could grow and fulfill his/her personal dreams and goals first. But, after the fact, if a girl becomes pregnant (as many women could have become pregnant with pre-marital sex), then I am sure she is able to be responsible and raise the baby. Sure, the baby will bring a change in her life, yes, but life can bring many unexpected situations - and a baby is not a bad thing if the parents can raise him/her well. I have confidence that Bristol will do a wonderful job raising her baby. Her decisions have shown that they live what they believe - in LIfe. I have complete respect for them.
Eric, if your parents were a) high-school kids and b) unmarried on that day in 1969, then your parallel holds. If not, sorry, but it doesn’t apply.
If I was a governor of ANY state, and discovered that any state trooper was guilty of wife-beating, child abuse, pedophilia, etc., I would demand an investigation, too.
If the boys ignored my request, repeatedly, I would directly ask that they be fired, too.
Doesn’t the governor have a duty to see that laws are upheld?
If a conservative Republican governor knew about something like this and ignored it, the MSM would be roast the governor alive.
By and large, I would say there are a total of five questionable posters who object and about five who are sanctimonious and pious in judgment.
In other words, hardly any fighting at all, so you’d be pleased to see 99.9% of FReepers are normal and supportive.
NPR didn’t take long to report it.
No. I’d rather that shame, a powerful motivator, be used (among other factors) in a way so as to make them avoid premarital sex.
Sooo..this is a teen mom.
Nothng new, nothing old.
Big deal, poor child, having a baby so young.
I feel for the young woman,,,,,
And it reflects on her mom, how?????
No issue IMO.....
I’m not angry at the girl. Teenagers do what they do.
It’s up to parents to take responsibility for making sure their children don’t screw up their lives. Making sure that teenage boys have condoms and teenage girls have birth control is a no-brainer.
I favor teaching abstinence—but to not leave one’s children prepared in case of a moment of weakness is frankly poor parenting, imho.
I think you’d best not assign motives to someone into whose heart you cannot see. There’s about nothing more insulting than that.
Not really, it's their capacity for self deception that is bottomless.
Stop, you're making too much sense .... that's not supposed to happen :)
