The left is going to screw up bigtime. You know they won’t be able to help themselves and will attack a woman who represents a “normal” woman while holding views heretical to the left’s orthodoxy of what women believe.
The Governor seems to be exceptionally underestimated by the left. There is definitely a ‘common’ touch to her which Biden and Obama can’t match. Simply put, a vastly larger part of the electorate can identify with the Governor as a working and loving mom than with a six term US Senator or a striving young black man. This is powerful stuff. The more that the media and her opponents pile on her, the more voters will view her sympathetically. She grew up poor. She and her husband are union members. She’s worked her way up from the PTA to Mayor to Governor to now a Vice Presidential candidate. There’s a powerful appeal in the notion of a working mom who has balanced the demands of home life with professional aspirations...and success. Women want to be like her.
And I don’t buy that women by and large are overwhelmingly pro-choice. Perhaps Hillary Clinton voters are, but one has to wonder if that is as big of an objection for most as the media and scared Democrats would make it out to be.
And perhaps just like the Democrats are counting on issues not being as important as the prospect of making history by electing an inexperienced black man to the highest office in the land, perhaps issues won’t matter that much to enough voters who’d like to see a woman elected first.
However, did you see the Biden video on U-tube tonight? Governor Palin may have a touch of the more average person within her, but Biden is downright common. I don't care how much money he has or that he's bee a Senator for almost 35 years, he's common. Governor Palin has more class in her little pinkie nail than he has in his entire body.
The McCain campaign should put out a TV ad introducing her to people. My brother's idea, NOT mine. : )
