One measure of how well John McCain kept his choice of a vice presidential running mate secret is that 67% of voters nationwide have no opinion one way or the other about Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that she is unknown to 78% of women.
In fact, among 10 leading Republicans included in the poll, Palins name was the least recognized.
However, in Alaska, the 44-year old Governor and hockey mom earns good or excellent ratings from 64% of voters statewide. Just 14% say she is doing a poor job. In a state whose senior Republican Senator has been indicted for ethical violations, 84% say Palin is at least as ethical as most politicians. Most (51%) say shes more ethical than her peers (full demographic crosstabs available for Premium Members).

Interesting you should bring that up. The Washington Press Corps isn’t known for its humility, but many reporters privately admit that they treated Dan Quayle unfairly in 1988. In fact, some of them actually regret they way they portrayed him.
“Palin is a self-admitted Feminist. So much for the fresh air...”
She’s a different kind of feminist than the Betty Freidan/Eleanor Smeal crowd. Solidly pro-life and pro-marriage, for example.
Did you watch her acceptance speech?
A Tammy Bruce type or am I off base?
She calls herself a Feminist for Life. What more proof do you need that she is a feminist?
Yeah, but a pro-life feminist which is considered to be an oxymoron. In fact, Palin turns virtually every stereotype of a "feminist" inside-out. She's a member of the NRA, a conservative Republican, etc., etc.
A feminist does not to be a bad thing. Palin has the opportunity to redefine what feminism means and it's going to make the scowling "can't-get-a-date" NOW crowd not very happy at all!
Ahh, from your lips to God’s ear...
Exactly. I can handle that kind of feminist. I worked in a Women’s Studies program for over 22 years. I KNOW what the other kind of feminism is and she ain’t it.
That’s one of the feminist tricks—they say “I’m not THAT kind of feminist” so you can’t really pin them down or hold them responsible for the dismal consequences of feminism. The truth is that feminism is feminism is feminism just as socialism is socialism is socialism.
Probably so. However, she will make a horrendous president. That's my concern with this pick.
if you could cut out Portland and Seattle then Palin probably would help take Oregon and Washington. All I see around here now are Obama signs.
I don’t know much about Tammy Bruce. But Palin the type who believes that women should participate in public and economic life, but is also strongly supportive of family, community, country, and free markets.
When these buckets of scum do so publicly you will be on to something. Even more so when they go forth and sin no more.
You didn’t answer my question.
Did you see her speech this morning? Yes or no?
In Washington state, I think she can bring in some votes in the Tacoma/Bremerton area, as well as around Bellingham in the north and the Olympia/Vancouver area in the south. In Oregon, I she could be helpful in the coastal towns in the central and southern parts of the state.
They needn't leave their office to locate the 14%, chances are they work for the MSM.
who knew who nobama was 9 months ago! she seems more expirienced than osama the community organizer or what ever the heck he was in chicago. i say governer is a harder job than a senator.
Common Sense is extremey important because there are many people in politics who lack Common Sense.
I don’t have to answer your question. Deal with it.
