As an authentic feminist and independent conservative I am thrilled with McCains choice of Sarah Palin for Vice-President.
I have to confess, I didnt give him enough credit. I have come to support McCain grudgingly, only after Giuliani and then Romney. And when the VP stakes began both on my Web site and radio show Palin had been a consistent favorite of readers and listeners. As disappointment and even hostility with Washington has grown, McCain has done something so many of us were hoping forhe made a daring, maverick and ultimately the right choice for his running mate.
A choice reflective of real change, but change based in principle and true progress.
Whats the difference now between Obama and McCain? Last night, Obama spoke about rejecting the politics of the past, after he spoke for a good 20 minutes embracing the old, tired and failed liberal politics of the past 50 years.
With choosing Palin, McCain has now set the standard of genuine change, a willingness to buck the status quo, not just rhetorically, but actually. Perhaps we shouldnt have been surprisedit was a Republicans who put African-Americans into actual positions of power, rejecting the Clintonian notion that blacks should accept the absurdity of a white man being the first black president. And now, it is again a conservative who elevates a woman to power.
There were many other predictable, perhaps safer, choices McCain could have made which would have satiated the conservative base. Yet, he chose someone who has the qualifications and has a history of also walking the maverick walk, but does not necessarily have the traditional resume, and thats exactly what we want in a day when trust in government has never been lower.
Sarah Palin is a perfect choice...

This choice just DARES the SnObama camp to bring up experience!
They are so hosed!
Here is a link that Hildy posted on another thread ... you can see that many of Hitlery’s supporters are going to jump to McCain for sure now, DESPITE Hitlery’s statement today that “their policies are wrong”... I bet she doesn’t make this comment very loud over the next two months... LOL

Obama has no experience and he is running for president; Gov. Palin is an executive and she is second on the ticket. She also has way more experience than Obama. Nothing has been taken off the table. She also commands the National Guard and deals with Canada and Russia, her closest neighbors.
His pick was good.
I am almost tempted to vote for the S.O.B.
Excellent Statement....
Something else:
One thing I definitely like compared to Obama bin Biden is that neither McCain nor Palin were Lawyers first, then Legislators. They both have real-world experience, something Obama bin Biden are sorely lacking.
I was on the fence - this pushed me over. Great pick!
I know. It does kind of boggle one’s mind to think he couldn’t find anyone better than Biden. He’d have been better off with Hillary (ouch, did I really say that??). Then he wouldn’t have lost HER women devotees who may now vote for McCain and Palin.
I agree she is a breath of fresh air. There is nowhere in the Constitution that says elected officials have to be LAWYERS!
Biden should travel down his state to Dover and read the monument on the Green in front of the Old State House...it’s a memorial to the Delaware regiments that marched off to the southern campaign in 1780,very few returned...the monument is from the Society of the Cincinatus..which Geo.Washington belonged to, dedicated to the citizen/soldier/politician who serves then returns home to their normal life...we need to return to the ideals of the society of the Cincinatus.
Governor Palin has far more management experience than Barry Soetoro Obama ... in fact Barry Obama has no management experience that I can find! And which would you rather have—since you want us to compare a veep to a pres nominee: would you rather elect a woman with management experience in government who will get intense ‘next-to-the-job’ training or would you prefer to elect a man who will be ‘on-the-job clueless’?
Hey doug: #8 you need to change “that” to “than”
Then it is PERFECT!
Excellent description of his message!
Tammy has a talent for a well turned phrase ... but her on air voice is just not right for radio.
I don’t get it - WHY is everyone trying to compare her experience with Obambi’s??? SHE IS NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT!!!! Geeez!
glad to be of wee service.
Neither inspire me in terms of the experience required to be POTUS and leader of the free world. Let’s just hope McCain wins and stays in good health.
Thank you, that’s very helpful.
I strongly disagree. The topic is not only not off the table, but it is very likely to move front and center. Palin is vastly more experienced in actually running something executive as a VP candidate then the dem presidential candidate. The dems seem determined to try to play up her inexperience, but what they're going to do is draw a spotlight to Obama's inexperience. Obama hasn't even bothered to lead a single session of the committee that he's supposed to be in charge of...and it's foreign relations. If he can't run a committee there is no way he's qualified to run the nation.
