The average American can’t tell you what state Joe Biden is from... I think Palin swings the undecided female vote to our column and could inspire something that desperately needs to done.

Conservative primary challengers to Republican office holders who betray the principles they were elected to uphold.

Fox keeps talking about Meg Whitman, too.

The contrast between Palin and Obama is perfect.

Palin has run a State, and Obama has difficulty even pressing Yes or No.

If it is Meg Whitman, I would not be pleased. That is a pro choice pick, and then my “McCain” support will falter.

I have been surfing thru (folks this is by far the most positive Palin thread here on FR).

That's because the negative ninnies were asleep when the news broke. We got a head start on them! :)

They're here now and trying to catch up.

“Fox keeps talking about Meg Whitman, too.”

If McCain was stupid enough to pick Whitman - he can go home. She’s a dog that don’t hunt - in more ways than one.

The “average American” doesn’t know jack about Joe Biden except maybe that he is a tiresome bloviating pompous gasbag. Palin brings much more to the R. ticket than Biden brings to the Obamessiah...... and she will negate Biden’s “attack dog” role since she can answer his attacks more effectively than just about anyone else the Rs could put out there. She is also a genuine reformer and ethics champion who has gone after both parties in Alaska, and I expect she will kick some serious Rat-weasel butt over all of their corruption and sleaziness.

I don’t really know much about her, but she does not seem to be popular around here (I think that maybe an understatement!).

The MSM will have no problem in saying that she is 'inexperienced' or 'unproven' at the same time that they overlook Obama's shortcomings.

The MSM will say those sort of things on any given topic no matter who the pick is. McCain is proving that he is not allowing the MSM to steer his decision process...something that was a big weakness for McCain has become a positive.

Plus, she is not running against Obama...McCain is. No matter what, the American people who aren't Kool Aid drinkers understand that. She is a VP pick for the future of the party.

Brilliant political move...one of the best tactical plays I have seen that also matches up with conservative ideaology. Even Reagan didn't do as well...GHWB was smart tactically but not good for conservatives.

Choosing Governor Palin accomplishes both.

CNN said they talked to Ridge... he is at home and is going to get a haircut.

Quite a game, and has pushed BO to the back burner within 12 hours of his speech. Well done, McCain camp.

UPDATE: Drudge has up now that Gov. Palin is at her home in Wasilia, Alaska, and (per her spokesperson) is planning to attend the Alaska State Fair today.

Whitman? Ridge? What a FReaking morning...I hope Matt is wrong, but he quotes her spokeswoman...

"a Palin pick means Republicans own the White House until 2020. Palin's approval numbers in Alaska are off the chart...numbers other politicians would die for."

Exactly. It blows any chance Mr. Clinton would have in 2012. Can' you just imagine a young, beautiful "maverick" up against the old Stalinist hag?

Can't you just imagine the look on the Clinton's faces right about now as they contemplate the disaster a Palin pick would mean to their future plans? Hee hee hee

Did you see the congratulation message McCain had for senator Obama?

I keep thinking of the part where McCain says something like "Tomorrow we will be right back at it (big sly smile), but tonight, I want to congratulate senator Obama..."

If Palin is his VP pick, he meant that "Tomorrow" literally. He's turned Obama into yesterdays news. ROFL! Brilliant!

"As a woman, this pick excites me! "

As a man this pick excites me too! For one, it means the Republicans will be the first to break the glass ceiling for women at that level of position as Vice President if they win. And most importantly, Sarah Palin is an excellent Conservative, she's smart, she's tough, and she'll definitely get the Republicans back into the White House.

It's a winning ticket!

McCain/Palin '08

The only other flight scheduled to arrive in Dayton is from Pontiac, MI.
