Yup, the dems would be screwed.

I was initially very dismissive of Palin. Way too little inexperienced. But after watching what the dems did with Obama why not?

She could argue that as a mayor and governor she has executive experience and has been in charge of troops (Alaska National guard). She could then quite easily point out that neither Obama or Biden has any executive experience at all or have even run a corner store. Imagine her looking Biden in the eyes during the VP debates and making this case. The Dems are screwed!

If they raise the experience issue then it will bring peoples focus to the top of the ticket which people are much more concerned about. this hurts Obama way more than McCain.

Not only that, but as much as I hate identity politics it is the perfect place to play the female card. Palin “ Obviously Senator Obama thinks 143 days and no executive experience in the Senate is enough experience to be president for a man, what's different now.” Can you hear all the Clinton women pulling the levers? What a double standard it would be to expect the bottom of the GOP ticket (a woman) to need to be more experienced than the top of the dem ticket.

If the dems are smart they wont touch the experience issue. It raises Obama’s lack of it and stokes the flames of the women hurt by his upstaging Hillary.

McCain has obviously shown he is more than willing to go out of the box with this election so this is plausible. I personally think unless runs a very unique campaign this is a lost election.

I’m still a little nervous about the source of this information.
Sure we see the plane track, but other than that we don’t have much else to say it’s Palin.
I guess I don’t want to be let down if she’s not the one.

Inexperienced no-name: not a very apt description.

She's got more executive experience than either Obama or Biden. And comparing her resume to Obama would highlight his very thin credentials. I mean if a NO-Name from Alaska has more accomplishments than Obama... what does that say about him. Also she would pull in many women voters that may have been turned off with Obama not giving Hillary a chance. And as has been said before, conservatives in NUMBERS would come out to support a ticket with her on it.

Lastly, I think having a true Washington outsider would swing more of those voters looking for change than anyone else on the VP short list. I don't think it's gonna happen, but sure would be a good move in my opinion.

Experience, she has that in buckets

Palin served two terms on the Wasilla, Alaska City Council from 1992 to 1996. 2 terms as Mayor, In 1996, she challenged the incumbent mayor, criticizing wasteful spending and high taxes. The ex-mayor and sheriff tried to organize a recall campaign, but failed.Palin kept her campaign promises, reducing her own salary, as well as reducing property taxes 60%. She ran for reelection against the former mayor in 1999, winning by an even larger margin. Palin was also elected president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors.

In July 2007, Palin had an approval rating often in the 90s. A poll published by Hays Research on July 28, 2008 showed Palin’s approval rating at 80%. [

“Oh, no! The Texans on this board are going to be pissed at you.”

Na! I consider Alaskans kindred spirits. It takes brass balls to live in that state.

I feel the same way. But holy crap! Palin is surgin on Intrade and most people are still asleep. I’d buy some but I don’t want to be let down AND lose money if it isn’t the case. Plus I’m a little skeptical this may all be an internet rumor spread to pump and dump some contracts. But darn it, I can’t sleep now!

For what it’s worth, I just logged on to Matt Drudge’s web site, and, in the upper left hand corner of the screen, there’s a photo of Sarah Palin standing next to John McCain!

"I guess I don't want to be let down if she's not the one."

Yeh, I know what you mean. What if it turns out to be a huge RINO? UGGGGGGHHHHH! What a let down.

I'm trying to figure out why she would fly from Alaska if she wasn't the one? Then again, maybe she wasn't on that plane in the first place? Frustrating.

Just heard on Fox that McCain's camp said it's someone who'll "reform Washington, something about energy, and lower taxes". "Reform Washington" kinda says Palin to me, but, maybe it's wishful thinking?

She is not surging compared to earlier. I think she was as high as 70 around 4:30 or 5 this morning. Now she’s back down to 20.

Well, the liquidity is so low that the price can swing quick of tiny amounts of money. I could surge her pack up to 70 now easilly. Someone just placed 1000 shares ask at 90.

Did someone already mention that Palin is listed on Drudge headline now?!?!?!

“She’s got more executive experience than either Obama or Biden.”

Politically, she’s got 2 years as Gov of Alaska, and that’s just about it. The only heavy duty office she has held in the political arena. It’s just not enough. She won’t be McCain’s pick, and I think you know it too.

You know now I’m all excited that it may actually be Sarah Palin!

If it is. Its going to have an absolutely HUGE effect in favor of McCain IMO.

If its not thats ok too. Whoever it is I’ll vote for McCain.

No way, No how, NO Obama!

I read somewhere that McCain will have his top 5 picks or so on stage with him, so it is possible she will be there, even if not the VP.
