Soros behind Mass. effort to decriminalize pot By STEVE LeBLANC 1 hour ago
BOSTON (AP) A measure that would decriminalize minor marijuana-possession cases is on the ballot in Massachusetts largely because of one man: billionaire financier and liberal activist George Soros.
Of the $429,000 collected last year by the group advancing the measure, $400,000 came from Soros, who has championed similar efforts in several states and spent $24 million to fight President Bush's 2004 re-election bid. The Committee for Sensible Marijuana Policy needed about $315,000 of that just to collect the more than 100,000 signatures that secured a spot on the ballot, according to campaign finance reports reviewed by The Associated Press.
"All of us owe George Soros a great deal of gratitude," said Keith Stroup, founder of NORML, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.

Another chink in the armor.
Since it is so toxic to the lungs, will be required to pay additional insurance fees because MJ smokers “have the right” to smoke and destroy their lungs?
Shouldn’t be legalized, but I’ve no issue with decriminalization. Our courts and law enforcement agencies have no business being clogged up with pursuing it.
People are easier to control when they are in a drug induced coma.
exactly
Dumbing down of America
Then just give them more drugs. Eventually, they’ll be so “happy” they won’t care.
Works pretty well at the mental hospitals.
The weird part is Soros giving them money for an initiative that’s in violation of UN drug policy.
I would be happy if the libs spent their wad trying to get pot decriminalized.
What nationality is Soros? Why does he have such an interest in the perverting of the US?
According to wiki, Hungarian.
Had George Soros spent $24 million on legalizing drugs, he would have gained a great deal of support amongst American conservatives who are tired of the “War On Drugs” and all the Constitutional violations and corruptions it has caused.
He loves doing this to countries.
He drives markets down and up for his own benifit.

Russian rouble devalued
Soros recants
The rouble’s trouble had started last week after the influential investor George Soros had called for its devaluation.
However, on Monday Mr Soros claimed that he had been “misunderstood” and that the main point of his remarks had been the idea of setting up a currency board to stabilise the Russian currency.
He said the Moscow government had acted in a timely and courageous manner to arrest the meltdown of the financial system, but warned that the situation was still “dangerous.”
Now THAT was a good answer. Yes, it makes light on this subject of Soros that for so long perplexed me.
Funny how some multimillionaires can’t get enough money.
Actually, it is worse than that.
Once you get the people hooked, they will do anything you want as long as the drug supply doesn’t stop.
Considering that most of the people who've smoked pot eventually give it up of their own accord without much apparent discomfort, legalizing pot doesnt' seem like much of a plan for creating a nation of drug addicts.
Do you both agree that there would be decreased profits for Mexican drug gangs and fewer SWAT raids?
“Considering that most of the people who’ve smoked pot eventually give it up of their own accord without much apparent discomfort”
Thats a myth
I work as a Mental Health Counselor and that is not at all what we observe.
I said “most”, not “all”. I expect you probably have about the same opinion of pot that ER staff have of motorcycles, for pretty much the same reasons.
