With John McCain to name his vice president on Friday, the smoke signals from the Republican Party are spelling out the name of Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.
Could Kay Bailey Hutchison pick up women's votes for McCain?
Once a long shot, she is apparently getting a boost from conservatives who see an opening to hoover up the women's vote after Barack Obama left Hillary Clinton and Kathleen Sebelius on the shelf.
Hutchison, 66, who is due to address the Republican convention in the Twin Cities next Wednesday, is seen as both a safe and a bold move for Mr McCain. Safe because she is vastly experienced; bold because she would be the first Republican woman on a national ticket.
Dick Morris, the former Clinton aide, wrote: "She's been around for decades and is not going to start making mistakes now. Her nomination would be a signal to American women that McCain takes their aspirations seriously, even if Obama does not."

WY: 1) Obama won the nomination, so that hasnt hurt him too bad.
Please think before you post! In the Democrat primaries, Obama wasn't running against McCain. He now has to convince non-moonbats to elect him POTUS.
Your second "argument" is no better, but I'm busy and we've all been over this ground before.
The only thing we can say for sure is that the next president will not be a conservative. And he will be no friend to conservatives.
Under her tenure the State Department has also been in open revolt against the administration.
If she can't manage the State Department far better than she has, she's got no business on a Presidential ticket.
Condi Rice!
I'm not too sure he's a dude...or at least one that bats the same side of the plate all the time.
{KBH's} Omnibus Bill Includes Border Fence-Gutting Amendment
An excerpt:
The Hutchison amendment gives DHS virtually total discretion over how and where the fence is built, says Grassfire.org President Steve Elliott. In fact, DHS would not be required to build fencing in any particular location -- and the double-layer mandate is totally gone.
I agree with your conclusion, which is even more reason to have someone who is fully capable of being President, hopefully a real conservative. Identity/gender politics do not serve our nation well.

Obviously Obama wasn’t running against McCain. But how does that take away from the fact that he won his primary despite having the Clinton machine and every other opposition candidate tackle his inexperience? Again, it has not hurt him too bad.
As far as your “moon-bats” comment goes, I don’t think you can realistically call the 40 million people who voted in the D primary as all moon-bats. 90% of Democratic voters are about the same as 90% of Republican voters. Only a small percentage of people (both Republican and Democrat) really pay attention to politics. The people who will select the next President will not be me and you and the other 5-10% of hardcore, attention-paying conservatives. Likewise it won’t be the 5% or so of moonbats on the other side. It’s going to be the 80% of people who get there information from 30 second TV ads and those who vote GOP because they always have or vote Dem because they always have.
I’m not familiar with her, but is she’s a good conservative, they have more than enough time to get people familiar with her and excited about her.

Does losing?
Would you rather Giuliani over Palin? He is certainly qualified to be President.
Agreed. Foggy bottom is just as worthless as it has ever been.
Is he really actually thinking about her? She’s 65. Why does he seem to take five steps forward and then ten steps back. Who is throwing her name out there and why? She’s pro choice...plain and simple and he said he’s not going to pick a pro choice VP to run with him.
Can’t believe that. They probably don’t know anything about her.
I will say this. It would be appropriate for the republicans to have the first woman VP. We had the first blacks in the cabinet. I just can’t fathom that he would pick Bailey...
At least she has the stones to take on the Bush Administration over the bogus polar bear listing.
There you go!
Put the late Jean Kirkpatrick on the ticket, it will make McCain look young and vibrant!
