Well-rested with his typically impeccable coif, Mitt Romney is back on center stage. Fresh from a ten-day vacation at the Beijing Olympics, the former Massachusetts governor barreled through Denver Tuesday, crashing the Democratic convention with a barbed audition for his possible spot on the McCain ticket.
Over several meetings with reporters, and hits on the cable news channels, Romney demonstrated his ability to deliver John McCain's message in a more concise and comprehensive way than any other McCain surrogate. In interview after interview, Romney was relentlessly negative, without ever raising his voice or coming across as strident. He hammered Barack Obama as an inexperienced "celebrity" and repeatedly cited the less fortuitous foreign policy positions of his running mate, Joe Biden.
"You have in the two people running for president, interestingly, two people who represent very different views of how to solve the challenges we face," he said at one of his first stops, a lunchtime meeting with the press, organized by the Christian Science Monitor. "On one side, with Barack Obama, you have an individual who I believe is a very charming and charismatic celebrity and senator, a nominee for the Democratic position to become president."
But that was just the set up. Romney said little else about the Democrats that could be considered even remotely complimentary. On taxes, he said Obama was considering increases for corporations, individuals, capital gains, and social security. He accused Obama of wanting to "restrict trade," by unilaterally renegotiating the North Ameircan Free Trade agreement. On energy, he hit Obama for not pushing harder to expand nuclear energy and opposing offshore drilling. In a new line of attack, he accused both Obama and Biden of being lifelong politicians, compared to McCain, who entered politics in his mid-40s...

For example, I think Pawlenty does an okay job, not so well as Romney.
MYTH FLIP SLICK WILLARD RINO ROMNEY signs socialized medicine into law in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts, where you are fined and hounded by the Department of Revenue if you don't want to purchase health insurance.
If you dont have health insurance by Dec. 31, 2007, you will lose your personal income tax exemption for 2007. That exemption gives you a Massachusetts tax savings of approximately $219.
In 2008, the cost of the penalty goes up. The fine will equal half of the cost of the lowest-priced Health Connector-certified plan for each month that you dont have coverage
Waivers will be available for those who cannot afford a plan that meets the rules. Check back for updates.
Well I sure would look forward to a Romney-Joe Biden vice presidential debate. Romney would do well against Joe in the debate.
If nothing else, Romney will be entertaining as the VP candidate. I think he has it in the bag.
The Massachusetts Department of Revenue will enforce the individual mandate through the tax process.
Obviously, you’ve not watched/heard ol’ Joe in full attack mode.
McCain ate Myth’s lunch in the primaries. In fact, IIRC, FRed Thompson made Myth lose his words and stutter.
“I think he has it in the bag.”
How sad is that?
On any given day, MYTH FLIP WILLARD is not sure which side of an issue he is on , its kind of hard to be an effective debater in that context.
Sure, he can pretend to be anything at the drop of the hat.
He could just as well pimp for Obama next week without skipping a beat.
Lying flip-flopping liberal pukes just have a knack for things like that.
Compared to the others mentioned, he is the best candidate by far.
I think if it’s not Romney, it will be a woman.
Can you imagine attack dog Biden trying to go after a woman in the VP debate?
He’d look like an even bigger jerk than he already does.
McCain would end up carrying both the male and female vote, thanks to disaffected Hillary voters.
I don’t know if that is what McCain will do.
But I do know, that unlike the neophyte Obama, whoever McCain picks, it will be the right choice.
All Biden has to do is say he likes the plan MYTH signed into law in Massachusetts, whats MYTH going to say, that he was for it before he was against it?
Seriously, I can understand brain addled “Mittens” continuously posting pictures of this fool but its pretty disturbing coming from a Conservative “Man”
Sorry, Mitt's record is Mitt's record, and it's not a conservative record, regardless of what I think of McCain (which is not much, in terms of McAmnesty, McCain-Feingold, and on and on).
Unlike Mitt, though, I can say that McCain's prolife record is pretty strong. Flawed, but not flip-flopped.
Romney smote McCain in the debates. For example, the focus group raters in the CA debate gave Romney very high marks, and McCain hit bottom.
Your loathing of Romney both clouds your judgment and robs your credibility.
Please, PLEASE pick Romney. Those that think that he should pick a woman or whatever are wrong. Pick the BEST person out there for the job and if that is a woman or a black or a dog, or a donkey pick them! But, in the meantime, Romney is a great choice.
Katie Curic interviewed him tonight. She began with, "You were sent here (the Democratic convention) to be McCain's attack dog...
I thought it a blunt and rude comment. Romney responded by saying he wasn't sent there to be McCain's attack dog.
Somehow I can't imagine little perky Katie, making the same kind of comment to Joe Biden.
Between her and Sawyer, I don't know who is worse. I dislike them both.
That's already in progress to the point where its not OK to mention his religion other than on religion threads.
Of course, most of the people who are otherwise inexplicably posting support for FLIP do it because they are fellow member's, don't have the intellectual honesty to admit it though.
The funny thing is that his religion is not an issue except for the fact that it has led his family to miss military service in every war since the Mexican American (over 150 years!), not exactly a stellar resume for a guy who wants to be CIC.
