At the time of the thalidomide disaster, there was an American woman who had somehow taken the drug, who went to Sweden for an abortion because she was afraid her baby would be deformed...that got some attention (c. 1960).

Since Pelosi is such an authority on St. Augustine, maybe she will agree to support a ban on abortions later than 40 days for male babies and 90 days fro girl babies.

Augustine didn't regard abortions before 40/90 days as desirable; he just didn't think they were on the same order of sinfullness as abortions performed once insoulation had occurred. With access to modern technology, Augustine wouldn't have made that distinction.

If Pelosi would be willing to live by any of Augustine's prescriptions, nobody would have much quarrel with her. I think other than being generally against sin -- in some sense -- she probably wouldn't uphold any of them.
