Catholic Joe's Abortion Woe

AS his vice-presidential running mate, Barack Obama chose a baptized Cath olic from blue-collar Scranton, Pa. - Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware. But will an abortion-rights supporter really help Obama with Catholic voters?

Four years ago, pro-abortion Catholic John Kerry received fewer Catholic votes than had Democrats' 2000 nominee, Protestant Al Gore.

In 2004, practicing Catholics were the decisive factor in many swing states. In Ohio, for instance, 65 percent of them voted for Bush, and in Florida President Bush's support from practicing Catholics reached 66 percent.

Former Boston Mayor Ray Flynn, after visiting numerous parishes in liberal Massachusetts, said he'd sensed a shift in the loyalties of old-line Catholic Democrats: "The party "thinks that just because a guy's an electrician or works for the gas company, he will be a traditional Democrat who will ignore culture issues, but that's not true any longer."

Earlier this year, the US Catholic bishops advised: "As Catholics, we are not single-issue voters. . . Yet a candidate's position on a single issue that involves an intrinsic evil, such as support for legal abortion or the promotion of racism, may legitimately lead a voter, to disqualify a candidate for receiving support."

The fact that Biden and Kennedy are still considered Catholics by the church is one of the main reasons that I’m no longer a Catholic.

No. But it will help the country. And it betrays just how far out of the mainstream these guys are, and apparently how stupid, to think a genuine practicing Catholic is going to support them.

I marvel at what's happening. Abortion will decide this election.

The fact that Charles Manson is still considered a human being is one of the main reasons I'm no longer a human being.

I agree. This is one reason ( among several) that I am no longer Catholic.

Any church with this level of truly evil hypocrisy within it very highest level of administration simply can not be a true church.

Abortion and Euthanasia

Sen. Joseph Biden (D-DE) Catholic politician who votes for abortion in contradiction to Church teachings. One of American Life League's "Deadly Dozen."

I guess you haven’t noticed the long list of Bishops and the Pope coming out against these pro-abort Catholics then?

They are a reason to come back to the church (if you really did leave for that reason.)

Biden,Kerry, and Pelosi haven't been officially excommunicated yet.

I bet Kennedy will have an official Catholic funeral.

So you would deprive yourself of the Sacraments, necesary spiritual fortification, because church leaders, human and imperfect as you are, don’t live up to your standards? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

Any church that would not, by now, have publicly and officially excommunicated Kerry, Biden, Pelosi, Kennedy, etc., can NOT in any way be true. And,...Neither are their “sacraments”!

Ah, you’re, at the very least, a neo-Donatist. Whatever is old is new again.

A Donaist believes that church itself is legitimate.

I contend that the priests and bishops’ failure to throw out Pelosi, Bidden, Kerry, Kennedy, ( et. al.) is and indication that not only are the priests and bishops illegitimate and corrupt ( along with their “sacraments”)... but,...also, at its very foundation, this is a **clear** indication that the Catholic Church is no longer the true church of Christ.

Worse...There is no mechanism for reform.
