Rep. Eric Cantor (Va.), rumored to be on the shortlist of John McCains vice presidential candidates, is conspicuously absent from a complete list of speakers at the Republican National Convention.
The list, sent to reporters under the header Republican National Convention Announces Full Program, includes the names of all other individuals believed to be on Sen. McCains (Ariz.) shortlist.
Cantor was asked earlier this month to undergo the formal vetting process by the McCain campaign and served as one of his most vocal supporters in the House of Representatives.
Rob Collins, a spokesman for Cantor, did not comment directly on whether Cantor would fill the spot left for the yet-to-be-announced vice presidential selection and attributed the absence to the vacuity of convention speakers.
He would make Michael Savage smile.
Thanks. He’s sounding like a home run to me.
Catholics (I am one) will like that Cantor is pro-life.
And presumably there won’t be any footage of Cantor dissing McCain (as there would be with Romeny). Therefore, we can continue to attack Obama through Biden and Hillary spots.
You mean this clip? Cantor vs. Matthews.
I hope there's another one, because I don't think he's that great there.
Judge for yourself but Eric Cantor is the real deal, a young, dynamic conservative on all three legs of the stool.
I'm starting a new organization, Catholics for Eric!:-}
Yeah I am really concerned about the ammo a Romney pick would give the Dems. Picking him would undercut McCain in sooooo many areas. Pawlenty is just too weak to take on Biden and I won’t even go into the disaster Ridge or Lieberman would be.
Cantor is really the only truly strong candidate left on the shortlist that meets all the qualifications and doesn’t undercut McCain or create problems.
Keeping fingers crossed and doing a lot of praying here the pick is Cantor!
I still want him to be Speaker, but VP also works.

Ouch. Good point!
Eric Cantor is a very smart guy. He won’t be embarassing us and he won’t be taking a back seat to Barack Americas attack dog Plugs.
I agree. I am more concerned about Cantor after seeing the video. Article I of the Constitution gives Congress the responsibility to declare war. He did not discuss the unconstitutionality of the War Powers Act and, frankly, Cantor got rolled.
I admit not knowing much of Cantor untill recently but from what Ive learned so far this guy is SOLID!
As a bonus this will PO the huckster and Paul rabble! LOL
So you recommend that we let the Marxist RATS set the agenda?

All of the primary candidates have baggage which Cantor does not share.
Pallin has the ex-brother-in-law proported-scandal still fermenting, yet to resolve. Her nomination would turn that no consequence issue into something the media would make as big as Watergate.
Cantor has the fresh new guy quality that would make it hard to ignore a get-to-know him hundred days of reasonable treatment by much of the media.
I will go with a vote of approval if it works out this way.
I agree with you. That clip will be made an issue. Biden’s gaffe (ie every fifth sentence) will be ignored by the media.
can he stop the tingling of chris’s leg?
“ots of anti-Semites out there”
Not in Republican circles. We pulled Pat Buchanon’s card.
The remaining anti-semites are the advisors to Barack Hussein Obama.
Welcome to FR, Newbie.
Well, he can be tutored in those areas where he needs a refresher. What did please me was his assertiveness, charm, and telegenicity. Women will like this guy.
Additionally, if the media insists on fighting this election on domestic issues, that plays to Cantor’s strengths, particularly energy production.
I want someone who can really go after BO with gusto and determination. A pit bull.
have been here for years. New name. But thanks.
