DENVER -- While all eyes are on Sen. Barack Obama and his freshly minted running mate Sen. Joe Biden -- one week from today (the day after Sen. John McCain announces his running mate), Gov. Tom Ridge will introduce McCain along with unsaid running mate on a southwestern Pennsylvania stage.
According to a Republican official, Ridge will be introducing McCain in Washington County next Saturday, which probably means Ridge is out, Mitt Romney remains the favorite, and Team McCain is planning to fight it out with Obama-Biden in the Keystone State.
Many analysts and strategists are keeping a keen eye on Allegheny, Westmoreland and Washington counties as where the national campaign may be decided.

Thank goodness if true that Ridge is out.
Glad it is not Ridge.
Add me to that list.
You know what? It’d be an interesting thing for McCain to select Rick Santorum. Hmmmm.
McPain needs Mitt more than ever. Screw these hate filled Evangelicals. Let me preach their hatred towards Mormons to someone else. They are a sorry example for evangelists.
I'll make Mitt a PRAYER target instead.
I think we can only have a US President whose beliefs are consistent with traditional American values; that is either Christian, Jewish or Mormon. Obama is eliminated on that basis because of his Muslim background. Once a Muslim, always a Muslim.
Mitt should have been the GOP Presidential candidate.
If it’s not Victor Davis Hanson, Dennis Prager, Thomas Sowell or Dick Cheney, I hope to God it’s no one whose name I’d recognize because everyone else I can think of off the top of my head (Romney, et al) belong on the Obama ticket.
Romney is a good choice, if in fact he will be the running mate. An even better ticket would be Romney with McCain as VP, but it’s too late for that obviously. The main thing now is to defeat the socialists: Obama and Biden.
Let’s be sure to get out and vote. Better yet, vote for McCain via absentee ballot as early as possible.
I definitely grew to like Mitt Romney a lot more. He may have flip-flopped on Abortion, but shouldn’t we be glad that he became pro-life. The anti-Mormon crap annoys me. Ok, so Mormon theology is a little strange, we aren’t electing a preacher, we are electing a President and Vice President.
McCain needs to pick a young solid conservative with a proven record and leadership abilities.....
An old liberal with little public experience like Romney wuld make McCain look bad...
Interesting yes, but (IMO) Santorum would be a terrible pick. Rightly or wrongly, many independents view him as a too doctrinaire and too far to the right.
My choice, in order of preference:
1. Romney
2. Palin
3. Cantor
4. Pawlenty
Mitt “make every promise you have to” Romney is another Slick Willie politician wo will say or do ANYTHING to be
President.
McCain would be very wise to pass on him.
Not to mention all the ads the democrats could run of the nasty exchanges between Mccain and Romney ...
Yes , like when McCain said not to go to a mud fight with a pig because you both get dirty and the pig likes it , when
referring to Mitt.
Oops, you jumped the gun there sport. You’re not supposed to play that card until someone includes the word ‘mormon’ in a post. No soup for you, Sparky.
Hey Mom, he cheated...
He tried to trump me with a victim card when it wasnt his turn...
Politics was trumps and he still had some...
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
