Breaking on CNN
I have never seen a republican win a presidential election from the middle, nor has one ever won one without his base. McCain could pull it off if enough older dems who refuse to vote black cross over. Gee, won't that just give him a strong presidency....hated by his own base and only voted for by the other guys because of racism...
You are right, if McCain chooses a liberal VP he does not need my vote at all because there will be no difference between him and the dems... let everybody hate the dems not McCain (which both sides will)and in 2 years of democrat shock therapy clean house and put in real republicans.
History forever repeats itself and country club republicans are the dumbest of the dumb forever repeating the same mistakes and refusing to understand who their party is. They are the reason we truly deserve our name the "stupid Party" this year.
Very cogent post. Many thanks, M’Lady.
I think you are correct about Obama not getting his first and probably second choice if not more then that and why everything was delayed. Last night was one of the funniest nights I have had on here.
The base is not made up of the purists who vent on the internet. You are so tiny and irrelevant and you are not the base. As I said before, the main trait of the purists is delusion. You think that you are much more in number than you really are.
Romney couldn’t even win the nomination despote outspending everybody and had higher negatives polling than any Dem or Rep candidate. Plus you’d have two old rich white guys on the ticket. Romney shoulsn’t even be an option. McCain should pick Cantor or Chris Cox.
The base does not affect elections by their voting numbers. They affect it because they are the minority that does a majority of the volunteer work and donating that ends up winning elections. They are also the people more likely to inform independants about the issues in the election when they are excited. Keeping them interested is essential to winning an election. Compare 1984 with every election since.
“I guaran-damn-tee you, no matter who McCain picks, some faction or another on the right will yell “RINO” immediately upon hearing the news. Too many people on the right are perpetually disgruntled and can’t be pleased no matter what, so McCain may as well go ahead an pick someone he will feel most comfortable having as his running mate.”
Correct. I have my list of “OMG thats horrible”, Ridge, Lieberman and Lindsay Graham top it.
The fact that some will whine about Romney who got 4 million votes and almost won the nomination is more about their own state of disgruntled entitlement than anything else.
Romney btw will make a fine VP choice. He might even be the best choice right now. Bringing business and exectuive experience like that on the ticket would really show how thin the experience is on the double-gasbag Obiden ticket.
To one issue only nuts.
he’s right. It really doesnt matter in the election whether the VP changed positions sometime in the past, they are stand-ins for the Presidential candidate. Let Obama waste time and money running down Romney, nobody will stop voting mcCain over it. (look at the quayle pick).
What makes Biden a bad pick is what it says about Obama not biden.
Romney is articulate and will win the debates and help win support in key states (CO, NV, MI).
I think McCain will do fine with Romney.
Palin would be the game-changer pick though.
“I have never seen a republican win a presidential election from the middle”
Eisenhower in the 50s and Nixon in 1972.
“Romney couldnt even win the nomination”
Neither could anyone else McCain will pick. That’s kind of a silly statement, since Romney did get 4 million votes, the 2nd highest amount. So if you go by performance in the primary, Romney should get the #2 slot.
Cantor or Cox would be good picks for governing. For winning, go with palin or Romney IMHO.
Have a chuckle at the video
