Summer is entering its final weeks, but the U.S. Senate race in Minnesota is hotter than ever.

A poll released today by Minnesota Public Radio and the Humphrey Institute has Democrat Al Franken and Republican incumbent Norm Coleman in a statistical dead heat.

Respondents gave 41 percent support to Franken and 40 percent for Coleman. Another 8 percent said they are backing Independence Party candidate Dean Barkley. Eleven percent said they are undecided.

It’s a poll of NPR listeners.

There is reason for hope in MN. I have dealt with both the Democrat and Republican committees here through my work and the DFL is extremely organized. Sadly, I have found the Minnesota Republicans to not be very organized or aggressive.

Its hard for me to believe anyone with a brain would vote for a moron like Franken. It boggles the mind. I personally think that if Coleman can come up with some better advertising, Franken could lose and lose big.

I grew up in MN and find it hard to believe the folks up there are stupid enough to elect this fool. Franken is the least qualified, most ignorant candidate to come along since Joe Biden. If he is elected I will have to renounce my relationship with MN forever!

“...Franken has a loose grasp on sanity....”

Apparently 41% of Minnesota voters do too.

Yeah, that's nice, NPR and all that.

But what do the real polls show?

Thanks for the clarification. I might have been confusing you a bit with your neighbor, Wisconsin, the home of kooky leftists from way back.

Not a dope. Are you a dope for not recognizing that FReepers are the exception?

No worries. There must be more than just you up there, so get out there and make new friends. And for God’s sake, take Franken to the woodshed! Or in Minnesota-speak, the ice fishing house. Thin ice preferred. :-)
