The area is in contested territory from what I understand and no one can get in there without being shot at these days.

I don’t know the full details of who is contesting what, but that’s the last thing I heard about the region.

The Kurds and the Turks are fighting over this area. That and the Armenians claim Ararat as their own.

So we have Turkish secular muslims, Kurdish communists, and Armenia Orthodox Christians fighting over the same territory. Not a save place to be.
