Hello my Israeli brother - From a Christian American brother ;) May we fight them well together! One last huge conflict. The final war to end all wars. The next decade will be one rugged fight. And if we have a moron as President here some of us will still go THERE.

Wow. This is like breaking off diplomatic relations.

Can we get some cooler heads in the game before we start a thermonuclear war please?

I just looked at Federalist Paper 24 where Hamilton explains further that potential adversaries range from Britain and Spain (coventional warfare) to the indian tribes on the Westeern frontier (uncoventional/counterinsurgency warfare). Two hundred and twenty years ago guys like him could figure out the next war is whatever happens next.

I noted from reading these articles that powers are to exist without limitation in relation to capabilities and intentions, and not to emerge upon reflection of the damaged absorbed.

Indeed. Russia is acting like Russia again, not like the USSR.

And we have foolishly forgotten that. Russia always fights when a great power projects influence on her borders. They are to paranoid for that.

They have stated they want to put nuclear bombers in Cuba. Just recently in fact.

Made no sense to me, but they must be very afraid of this missile defense. They are trying to put strategic assets all over to hit the US from to many sides to stop.

Agreed. I have also met (and played games with) Russians.

Funny thing though, if you act to unpredictable, they go nuts. They are great chess players, but not good gamblers.

They are completely isolated from the free world.

They will make friends with the Mullah’s in Iran and Chavez in Venezuela.

That would be uncool indeed, but in purely scientific terms, it’s a waste of time. Man has just proved in fact, that we can accelerate light faster then it’s natural form. How long do you think it will be before we insert AI into a proton, beam it many times the speed of light (causing it to become multidimensional or blink into a new dimension, wormhole) and explore the entire universe and be back at the very second it left? A couple hundred years, five hundred?

Exploration of space via ships and whatnot are a pure waste of money at this point. And the question of life on other planets? By the time we get there with ‘spaceships’ we probably won’t care about them. Personally, I would rather invest in exploring our ocean and learning about new forms of life there first.

Didn't Iraq invasion of Kuwait and the UN have something to do with it?

I didn't mean to imply that there was only one reason. The exposing of Iraq's relationships with some of our "allies" might have been an added benefit that we wouldn't have needed to point out in advance. Saddam had WMD's. Either we haven't found all of them yet or they were transported to another country, like Russia.

Nuclear weapons are stored in very secure bunkers & usually in a partial state of assembly. Marrying them up to their bombers is a time-consuming task which we will ‘see’. In fact, we probably will ‘hear’ the order given before we actually see activity, giving us even more warning. Suddenly being ‘close’ to the US is a disadvantage. Those planes would never get off the ground, IMO.

I am happy about this, personally.

We need to get Georgia, Poland, and many others INTO NATO, and get the Russians out of it.

South Ossetia war spurs defence debate in Scandinavia, 08-15-08

---

Ms. Solberg illustrates her increasing fears with Russia’s reported violations of aircraft regulations at Spitsbergen and military training near the Norwegian border.

-It worries me that the Russians are showing disrespect for our right to govern the Spitsbergen archipelago, she says to the newspaper. She also accuses the Norwegian red-green government coalition of failing to nurse relations with the USA.

Such progressive, consecutive initiatives establish constraining negotiating positions Putin must consider. Such actions must proceed inexorably, subject to adjustment only following verifiable pacific initiatives for representative government and non-belligerent relationships with neighbors. Effective containment will reveal fragility of a totalitarian rule ...
