Ice cores, assuming depth = age?

Seasonal variations in the composition of the ice produce "rings" that can be counted, like the growth rings in a tree.

Yeah, that’s why WWII planes ended up being “ice dated” to over 250 years ago.

We sure could have used those in the Revolutionary War!
