This Olympics has made me very proud. Americans have acted with class and grace...where others have not.
I enjoy tuning in to the occasional Olympic event from time to time, but at the end of the day I really don't give a rat's a** who wins. I have a life.

Not to say the Chinese are not cheating with respect to age, they could be, and I am sure it is right to suspect them, but -
They are Chinese. The average American or European in a crowd in Hong Kong cannot fail to understand the physical differences. There are racial differences in build, height, etc.
Even for a population that is selected for a given physique like competitive athletes are (there are no 6’ women competing after all), the people chosen will reflect to a degree on the available pool.
And in a population of 1 Billion of disproportionately slight build, if slightness is of value in a sport, then it stands to reason that they will find slighter girls than we do out of 300 Million who are disproportionately rubustly-built.

A great summary. One has to wonder about a sport where being 12 is an advantage that can not be overcome. Perhaps these events should simply be eliminated. They are chlidish.

Other than not following the OIC rules, which is not a good precedent for other reasons, I could care less. Let whoever’s best win - no matter what age they are. If a 9 or 14 year old can whoop up on their elders who have had much more time to practice & hone their skills, all the more power to them I say.

When she was in her mid-twenties she was a part of a Heavy Bombardment Wing staff (USAF) and when we would go out to dinner I would get some evil looks from people, especially women, and some comments about me dating a girl still in high school. We were married at that time.
Asian genetics seems to keep them, especially Asian females, looking very young for a longer time than western people.
That said, I do believe the Chinese are cheating as it is the way of every communist country.
They are so morally and structurally bankrupt that they have to derive acceptance and bragging rights from things such as sports. Just remember the Soviets in the Olympics. Their athletes were paid professionals devoted to nothing but their sport while we did just as well (most of the time) with our great athletes who were truly amateurs.
I do not watch any Olympics now because our professionals now dominate the teams in my favorite sports (hockey and basketball) and they even go and play in their old, home country teams too.
The Olympics are not even trying to hide the fact that most of the athletes are professionals.
