Livethread - Obama, McCain, and Rick Warren
Posted on 08/16/2008 4:57:08 PM PDT by UFC Pride K1
Share your thoughts about the Saddleback Civil Forum, which starts at 8:00pm EST..
Will Warren throw softballs on the issue of abortion?
Will he give both candidates free passes?
Will this be an attempt to minimize the lives of the unborn while giving higher priority of less urgent social issues?

McCain is doing so much better than Osama did. Thank goodness! Obama/Osama was constantly searching his mind for what he thought was a good answer...uh uh well uh uh.

Curious, why did you leave the church? I moved to Seattle. The only things I miss about Orange County are the church, the Angels, and riding my Harley year round. :-)

Now I know why B.O. didn’t want to have town hall style meetings. The smoke and mirrors (fainting people and hollywood windbags) would not be allowed there kust like tonight.

Agree . . .but wondering how the
Lamestream is reading this. . .lol. . .but can they even recognize quality here; compared to the pap that Obama spins?
For those who can; they have to be nervouse. . .very nervous.
I still want to know what Obama meant when he offered, close to end, after question and he began answer. Interrupting himself to say that he 'cheated on this on and planned his answer ahead.' . .(SOMEthing close to this; he did say. . .and do want to know, 'what he meant' here.)

I think what we are seeing and hearing is someone who believes what he says, as opposed to someone who says what he thinks he needs to say to get elected.
The contrast is STARK!!
The Obama lovers are having a cow!!

Great Answers!!, Can't believe we are excited about him now on FR.
Well, I'm hardly excited about McCain...and I still spit nails over his positions on a lot of issues. But I find myself surprisingly impressed with his performance so far tonight. His answer about his first marriage was honest. His answer about offshore drilling was smart. His answer about his choice while imprisoned in Vietnam was heartfelt.
I'm actually impressed...never thought that would happen.

Anybody think Obama would’ve lasted 15 minutes in McCain’s Hanoi cell?

I am glad that McCain has this opportunity to talk about his faith.

And Rick Warren is doing a much, much better job than any MSM interviewer. A agree. Regardless of what Freepers think of him as a pastor and a Christian, I think his questions have been excellent and were not crafted to make Obama look good. If anything, I think he put Obama on the spot.

McCain is taking over the interview.

I think this forum by Rick Warren is refreshing, and though I know little about him, I feel he has been very fair. Personally, I’ve been very impressed with McCain as well.
To: Huddled Masses
True religion requires sacrifice, discipline to Christ, living correct principles and lift up others that cannot help themselves.Christianity requires acceptance of Christ as our Savior. It's the grace that's freely given to all who believe on Him that saves. The sacrifice, discipline and living a Godly life are simply manifestations of that grace that overcomes us and causes the good works we do. Those good works in themselves cannot buy our way into Heaven.
