TBILISI, Aug 16 (Reuters) - Georgia's Interior Ministry said on Saturday that Russian troops had blown up a railway bridge about 45 km (30 miles) from the Georgian capital Tbilisi.

Ministry spokesman Shota Utiashvili said troops had destroyed the bridge in the Kaspi region west of Tbilisi, "paralysing the Georgian railway network". Reuters could not independently verify the report.

A Reuters correspondent saw Russian armoured personnel carriers and soldiers advance to the area on Friday from the Russian-occupied town of Gori near breakaway South Ossetia.

I think the Georgians figured the peace accord was null and void anyway, since they observed 100-150 Russian armor units moving into South Ossetia.

By all account that wasn't until the next day, AFTER Georgia had shelled Tskhinvali.

If you have a source for your claim, I would be glad to look at it.

Very very concise observations and analysis.

How about...

Russia steps back ( as it destroys and plunders on its retreat) and holds and effectively controls the two regions under dispute and US and International forces go into Georgia to fortify it.The stand off continues.

Speak for yourself... I will speak for my self!

Vladimir Putin is one such genius. As this brilliantly planned and executed operation illustrates, he is the most effective leader in the world today, certainly of any major country. No one else comes close.

Why would Russia allow the US/NATO/Georgia to rebuild what Russia destroyed ?

Also this...

"5:30: First Russian troops enter through Roki tunnel South Ossetia, passed Java, crossed Gufta bridge and moved by Dzara road towards Tskhinvali."

This is on August 8, the day after Georgia's brutal attack on civilians.

Those blog reports start with this

2:45: Reports are received of Georgian troops occupying the villages of Didmukha, Muguti and Dmenisi. Posted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia at 10:47 PM

Nothing at all about what proceeded this. What proceeded this is what we are discussing.

He is the guy responsible for ordering the attack. Unless you can prove what HE said is wrong, you assumption is unproven.

Actually, I didn't say it. One of your experts said it at the American Enterprise Institute panel discussion on the Republic of Georgia situation.

A war crimes court won’t care about his claimed reason for ordering the attack, only that he did it!

The whole world is wrong, Putie and his imperialist ambitions are right, according to two posters on this forum, one of them a Russian living in Seattle, the other, who knows, just an uninformed American. Best to ignore them.

I think that is the least of his worries at present and should be the least of our worries at present.
