The demand the resignation of Saakashvili and intend to annex Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Russia will install a puppet regime in Georgia, count on it.

No, I am not ignorant of the escalation of Russia’s imperialism in Georgia or many other parts of the region, thanks.

This was a staged attack premeditated and planned by the Russian military.

I guess the boycott of Georgian wine in Russia was not working. :)

“Absolut Russian Propaganda Tool Alert”

You are mistaken FRiend. There is clearly need for a “Stoli Russian Propaganda Tool Alert.”

But really, no one is buying it. Except for the leftist tools that are still crying about the fallen Russian/Soviet Empire.

And funny, a few surface here now and then. :)

Are you as ignorant of the events of the last 6 months or are you just a mouthpiece of fascists like Sakashvili?

You mean like you are the mouthpiece of fascists like Putin and his milkfaced comfort-boy Medvedev?

The idiot governor actually said he was glad to see that Medvedev listened to obama and ceased fire.

He really and truly is an idiot. He's also a duplicitous snake.

“Those AP timelines always fool the foolish.”

Was the AP publishing timelines back to 1917? I didn’t know that.

I suppose now you're going to say Georgia invaded Russia not the other way around.

It's Russians bombing Georgian hospitals not Georgians bombing Russian hospitals.

Just like the Sept 11th terrorist Putin may think he's has taught the west a lesson. He won this first battle, but he's just started a new Cold War and he will lose that one also.

Start by kicking Russia out of the G8.

The last six months are a redux of 1921 and totally the resonsibility of Russian meddling for strategic benefit.

This will not be over, but the Russians have made a dire strtegic error in the return to imperialism and Bolshevik status.

We will arm Georgia to the teeth this time and NATO protection will also occur.

Russia has really jumped the shark. In addition to everything else, they have damaged their relations with China badly, and we will most certainly return to cold war positioning.

Your words about fascism are totally wrong. One wonders how or why you come to a conclusion like that, because those comments come from the local politics. The local posturing is essentially a argument over who is more democratic, or code for liberal than the other guy. The word fascist in a new democracy like this is used by the communists and socialists to define a political conservative.

I think you had better do some self assesment and see if perhaps you are on the wrong forum or something.

“Has anybody else noticed that an inordinate number of the ‘apologists’ on these threads signed up in 2000”

Yes. The friend of my enemy is my enemy. Serbs are now my enemy. We should distract the islamofacists back to Chechnya, they are always looking for the next jihad. It would be very easy to do and Russia deserves it. Russia started the Cold war again and we should abide them and put them back into Chechnya as well as putting the Serbs back in the lne of fire.

Nobody plays the war like the US Cold Warriors...they have just been asleep. Of course Obama would nix any balance of power strategies like this. We need adults running the show not peaceniks.

For crying out loud! Don’t start reading and spinning into whatever term I used. I am ex-military I served in intelligence during my 22 years in the military. I take no sides in this dispute, but simply see it from a perspective of an ex-intelligence analyst.

It is quite clear exactly what the Russians wanted out of this. To the Russians, regardless of how I word it, it was the ultimate solution to the problem once and for all. A push to remove ALL Georgian forces and influence in the disputed regions. I stress again that I take no sides in the dispute, but simply see it from the perspective of an ex-intel analyst.

Maybe you intend to take no sides but you have been providing cover for Russia all morning. If this was the final solution for Russia why the oblique threats to Poland, Ukraine and the Balkans? McCain was right about Putin..when he looked into Vlad's eyes he saw three letters, KGB. I don't think Russia is finished at all. They've just put us all on notice.

The problem with your essentially correct assessment is that most cold warriors, like myself, despise Russians. We got very tired of "Duck and Cover" drills as a kid. Taking iodine pills because of nuke test fallout and the like.

What we have here, is some sort of successful propaganda ploy by the Russians which has affected some individuals by way of using the Islamic terror threat to make them more palatable to some.

It did not work with me. I am a second gen immigrant from the area, and I have a better take on the politics so stuff like that rolls off.

A push to remove ALL Georgian forces and influence in the disputed regions.

That's the status quo!

Georgia has no influence in these areas. These areas have their own little Russian puppet governments. One area, S. ossecia, has been provoking a response for many months, and Russia was ready when it finally happened.

Russia invaded because they wanted to set back democracy in their most favorite a first satellite country that formed the old USSR. They wanted to put the others on notice that if the flirted with NATO and put in U.S interceptors that the same will happen to them. Had the world not reacted, they would, and may still occupy for the strategic value of the oil ports, and pipeline.

Issues like Ossecia are only valuable excuses to them. Not real desires.

“...do you always take kindly to overthrowing democratic governments?”

In this case, I think fascist-stooge Sakashvili probably has more to fear from his own people, rope, and sour apple trees.
