As an Air Force guy... I can say that tanks simply do not have what it takes to stand up to an A-10 :)

nothing metal with tracks is "warthog-proof"...
As far as being in a fixed position and hiding in a hole from an Abrams combined atttack using our current tactics of combining infantry, choppers, jets flying CAP and tanks.........A hole wouldn't help anybody... you'd just facilitate your burial. There are a couple of thousand witnesses buried in the sands of Kuwait that can back me up on that. lol....
