Agreed ... the US honestly can't do much about it. If you're one of the ones that thinks we can tell us what you think we could do, besides escalating it into a nuclear conflict. This is exactly why Iran must never get nukes

I totally agree. I’m getting pounded on other posts by people thinking we should confront Russia militarily over this. That kind of thinking is beyond retarded in my book. There are many more prudent ways of dealing with this issue that are in the USA’s NATIONAL SECURITY INTERESTS.

“why Iran must never get nukes”

Yep, bomb bomb bomb Iran before the dust settles, then find and hire Charlie Wilson for `Afghanistan, The Sequel’.
I think the Russians saw us project military power successfully in two countries, and on the other side of the world, and they got nostalgic . . . too bad for them, they will be the bad old days.

BS. Georgia is not worth Russia's national existence, and Putin knows it. He knows neither Georgia nor the US will attack Russia. This is a calculated gamble to ratchet up oil prices and give Russia de facto control over all the Caspian Sea oil.

For the US, however, guaranteeing oil flow and reasonable prices is a matter of national existence.

This means we can bring more pressure to bear than the Russians can stand, and it would be easy to do. But I strongly suspect we will do nothing.
