So what the heck can President Bush say??? It’s done. It isn’t like he can grab Putin by the ear and take him to the woodshed at Crawford for a whippin’. All I can do is reflect on his statements about “looking into Putin’s eyes” and seeing an honest broker he felt we could work with. Wasn’t it Cheney who said when he looked into Putin’s eyes all he saw was ex-KGB?

This speech tonight can only be empty, pointless words like, “Bad boy! Bad, bad Putin. Bad Vlad.” To which the response will be, “Yeah, so what?”

Agreed ... the US honestly can't do much about it. If you're one of the ones that thinks we can tell us what you think we could do, besides escalating it into a nuclear conflict. This is exactly why Iran must never get nukes

I will tell you what he can do. As freeper kristinn suggested earlier, he can announce that he will be joining the President's of Poland, the Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania, who are already on their way to Tiblisi to stand with the Georgian government there and call for and immediate cease fire.

That would be leading from the front.

It could well, if Bush joined them, stop Putin's juggernaut in its track because to harm them would lead to a much wider, all-out war.

It would be gutsy, couragous, and it would be the type of thing that comes out of the blue, like the Rose revolution itself, or the way the people in Moscow stopped the tanks back in the late 1980s, on which history turns.

The times for words in Georgia are done...it is time for action. Either the couragous action of these Presidents who know well the evil...or action in support of the Georgian military.

Otherwise Georgia is lost and we will be living with the foreign policy consequences of that...waiting for Russias next move (and there would be others) for years to come.
