I recently recieved a welcome letter from my daughter's teacher. My daughter is going into kindergarden at a catholic school. The letter included the phrase "learning how to help save the planet" which of course means global warming. My wife and I believe that global warming is a hoax built on junk science.
I don't want my daughter brainwashed by this liberal bullcrap. what should I do?
Educate her, I went to a public school where they constantly tried to indoctrinate us into the faith of the left, but I had conversations with my mother about stuff from an early age.
Be a bigger influence, watch the news with them and when you see a junk story point it out, show them the error..
Ill never forget when I was nine and came home elated
Me: ‘Mom do you know that under communism everyone owns everything!, thats great’
Mom: ‘Thats nice honey, but you do realize is all that means is nobody owns anything right? After all could you alone decided what to do with a toy that everyone owns?’

My flirtation with left think ended that day..
A different private school. I am not being sarcastic or flippant. I know it was probably important to pick a catholic private school for you, but the RCC in general has bought into the global warming hype. You need to get a good secular private school, or there are some good LC-MS (lutheran/missouri synod) schools out there that are conservative and don’t teach junk science.
great, so they can teach her fisting as personal expression?
no thanks.
counter what she learns at school with your views.
My daughter is 6, and she started the global warming stuff last year. I sat her down and explained to her that not everything she learns in school is always right. I told her if she had any questions on what she learns in school to come to me or her mother and we will help explain it to her.
The way I look at it is she is going to have to deal with this junk her whole life, and its better to start teaching her now how to deal with these views.
This will take wisdom. Respecting and being good stewards of God’s green Earth is fine and Biblical. But you will need to know when to call out blatant propaganda. This is something I need to do also with the secretary/director of our Church who has an obama sticker on her car.
My children went through 12 years of Catholic school. I was often dismayed at some of the liberal nonsense that they were spoon fed. However, one of my children attended public high school for 1 semester and I couldn’t believe the overall difference in attitude, discipline and quality of education. My overall experience was very positive with the Catholic schools but keep a watchful eye and make sure you educate at home. Don’t forget, all teachers are coming out of education schools that are extremely liberal.
Homeschooling
Why not just let her be a little kid and go along with the other kids? By the time she’s old enough to understand what you are talking about, there will probably be a whole new take on the subject.
She is going to get the same global warming crap in public school. Don’t send her to public school if you don’t have to, or unless you know the school she’d go to is a quality school teaching real science.
LOL
Then I would talk to the principal. He/she may not be aware. New teachers can only teach what they have been taught . If that doesn't work...look for another school or home school.
The enviro lobby has recently succeeded in making these synonymous, but in the past they were not. Learn not to litter, to responsibly recycle (like the old newspaper drives), and to clean up the community (volunteering to clean off old river banks, etc.) are certainly a small part of a good curriculuum.
I believe the public schools are much worse, if it's any consolation.
easy for you to say. I own my own company and work 16 hours a day.
Calm down, and if you’re very concerned about the content of the cirriculum related to saving the planet, find out exactly what that content is. At that level, it may be things you agree with, like not littering, and turning off lights when you leave the room. Who knows?
Why not ask the school exactly what they are teaching about this. Even if you don’t agree with the global warming hoopla, there’s nothing wrong with taking steps to help take care of the earth God gave us. Ask to see the curriculum.
