I wonder if Barack Obama or his campaign has given permission to use his image at Stylin Online which sells t-shirts that mock America and the Presidency
he does not have to- he is a public figure and such laws do not apply
I kinda like the Uncle Sam shirt!
No need. If it is considered parody or social commentary of a public figure, permission is not needed.
Answer is the same as with the Bush shirt — images are used without permission.
Probably. But do you think the MSM will report on it? Fat chance!
O. K., this needs NATIONAL EXPOSURE.....NOW!!!! And combine with it the stories re: His Communist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis.
This guy is the darling of the Communists and every other “Hate America” group on the planet.
Obama doesn’t HAVE to give his permission, but his campaign has sought out the marketing connections of left wing agitprop artists (like Shepherd Fairey of the OBEY Giant clothing and pop art concern).
The question poses was DID he? Not if it was necessary to do so.
Are you sure? I can't use Michael Jordan's likeness without his permission. Why would a politician be any different?
I’m not sure but the consensus here seems to be that he does not have to give permission.
So as the other posters wrote, does the Obama campaign have any connection with this company and artist? Are any campaign members wearing this shirt?
By the way there is another shit of Cheney kissing Bush.
Public figures have a different set of legalities.
If Michael Jordan was a politician you could use his likeness for anything having to do with political opinion, but you could still not uses his image on a new basketball you were trying to market as “Michael Jordan official basketball” without his permission.
Defamation of character is not protected speech.
yes, and for a private person the burden of proof would be different.
For a political figure how would you ‘prove’ Bush is not the worst President ever, or that it has harmed him for you to say so.
Of course a retarded company like that would make a t-shirt making the obination out to be a hero. Like a mound of crap in a port-o-pot, turds stick together.
