Great comment!

why don’t we all wait till Russia “stabalizes” all of Europe? then the UN would be happy.

What if the US did stuff like that. We would never hear the end of it.

People only care if a country is capitalistic, happy and successful I guess.

“So you wanted Islamofascists to continue killing kids raping bombing and pillaging throughout the world/.”

No, we’d much rather have Russians killing, pillaging and bombing kids throughout the world. Get this and get it good. If the moron Russians wake up the Cold Warriors in the US, you will see Chechnyans and other muslims like KLA armed to the teeth in covert operations. Russians will be fighting Chechnyans in Russia for decades and Serbs will have no peace.

Let me repeat for you and for those who get their news on the socialist MSM or through their own delusions:

The conflict did NOT start as a Russian invasion on Georgia or South Ossetia.

Georgia attacked South Osettia, killing 1400 civilans. Russia’s involvement was in response to this unprovoked attack.

The desire for South Osettia’s independence from Georgia is 99% in favour, with a 95% turnout.

your's is sorta my view on this

I confess that a comprehensive knowledge of the Georgia situation is not on my plate...

these sort of independence and ethnic this and that clashes in eastern Europe tend to bring back the old proxy war memories

it seems to me this is a Russian reply to our Balkan adventures and we are going to have to sit by and let them have their way essentially

any foreign policy predicated on racial, religious or ethnic political correctness is doomed to failure and at times Rice has appeared little better than Albright

It’s pretty clear from all sources - although I’ve seen anti Russian sources trying to obfuscate the obvious and hide the facts - that Georgia launched the offensive. It’s also clear that the overwhelming number of SOuth Ossetians want Georgia to get out.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_in_South_Ossetia_(2008)

Excerpt from wiki:

“After agreeing to a ceasefire, on 7 August Georgia launched a surprise military operation to take the unrecognised Republic of South Ossetia (a breakaway region of Georgia), saying that the action is a response to separatist attacks on Georgian villages. South Ossetia denies that these attacks have occurred... On 8 August, Russia, which had troops in South Ossetia, responded by moving its troops across the border, bringing tanks and artillery into South Ossetia.”

I’m not trying to be ugly but posting a pic of that poor injured women is propaganda.

Any air or surface ordnance is likley to impact civilians and our own history is replete with such.....arguably more than anyone other delivery apparatus in history.

War is indeed Hell and regrettably the most innocent are often the most defenseless and suffer the most whole grown men duke it out.....doesn’t matter if it’s chariots and spears or TU-95s, it’s still the slaughter of the innocents frequently and everyone has some of that blood on their hands.

Folks have to justify it in their minds and will prevails. That will and self preservation and might have always determined history.

Cold warriors?

You are beating a dead dead corpse.

The real enemy is the WOT which we are struggling to wage while holding the hands of the Saudis who fund terror in our midst as we sell off our patrimony to them...

“It’s pretty clear from all sources”

No there are sources also claiming that Ossetians were firing artillery into Georgian enclaves in Ossetia. The Russians did nothing and the Georgians finally responded.

“It’s also clear that the overwhelming number of SOuth Ossetians want Georgia to get out.”

So what. It is Georgian territory and recognized internationally as such. These are not ethnic Russians which is more propaganda. The Russians have been instigating in there for years.

The CNN reporter just confirmed that Russia is still bombing Tblisi, the capital of Georgia - hardly Ossetia. The goal is to take back Georgia and punish it for being a friend of the US and supporting our efforts in Iraq. Tell your Russian friends inside Russia and near to Chechnya to be very careful, there will be ramifications.

You sould include the fact that South Ossetia is part of Georgia, just as San Diego is part of the United States, not Mexico. Per agreements to which Russia was a party. The Republic of South Ossetia has the about same status internationally as the Republic of Aztlan. To my knowledge no (few is OK, I'm sure Iran supports the Russian position, Ossetia is ethnic Iranian after all) governments would characterize Georgia's action as an "offensive", moving troops withing Georgia is the perrogative of the Georgian government. The presence of peacekeepers with Georgia's acquience is clearly a problem, and might justify a Russian reaction, but in no way an occupation, which is what we're heading for.

“Cold warriors?

The real enemy is the WOT”

Russia by this action shows it is an enemy still. The Russians were given an opportunity to unite in the WOT but they have done nothing but hinder our efforts while they send missile tech and nuclear capacity to Iran.

If Russia takes Georgia, just watch what happens inside Russia near Chechnya...those contingency plans are there and will be worked to the utmost if Russia wants to play Cold War games again. Really, Russia is the most destabilizing country in the entire world, sending nuclear and ballistic missile technology to the #1 exporter of terrorism in the world, Iran.

According to the Tskhinvali election authorities, the referendum turned out a majority for independence from Georgia where 99% of South Ossetian voters supported independence and the turnout for the vote was 95%[8] and the referendum was monitored by a team of 34 international observers from Germany, Austria, Poland, Sweden and other countries at 78 polling stations[9].

From wiki---look it up yourself--the facts are facts.
