History Occurs! The "Establishment Media" HIDES! (Live Thread VI)
8/08/08 | Sherri Reese

Posted on 08/08/2008 6:06:46 AM PDT by eeevil conservative

One Week STRONG!!!!

"I sat there(on the House Floor) side by side with the American People.." Congressman Duncan Hunter (35 minutes into show)...

There has never been a time in our history when this has occurred. The House is adjourned, but a demonstration from the House Memebers is taking place on the House Floor, and the American Folks are sitting in the empty seats, personally telling their stories to their Representatives, and watching speeches from the Floor in person. This is not a "Constituent Day" this is a full week of HISTORY!

Call to action for today folks-

CALL THE "establishment" that claims to be the leader of Free Speech in our country. Ask them to define news. Ask them if they understand what "news" actually is. Ask them if HISTORY is news. This event WILL be inclided in the history books, and it will also note that this was the beginning of the end for the "establishment media."

Keep the calls and emails going!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...... My two... incredible Senators. It would seem that it is time, once again, to call them up, and ask them just exactly what it is, that they think they are doing!

Just called Graham’s Greenville office

http://lgraham.senate.gov/public/

Went ballistic with the very southern, very polite gal about:

What the h*ll is he doing? He’s ruining the momentum the House energy heroes are building ... he’s hurting his best friend, McCain, who’s gaining traction and support from the efforts of the House heroes and he’s hurting his country and his party... and Americans who are struggling with higher food and fuel costs.

I told her the House heroes have galvanized Americans ...

I went on and on and on .... and asked if she was going to record my comments. She said yes. She also recommended I call the DC office .. when I asked if she was going to record my comments and she said yes, I told her I’d call the # later.

She said to push #2 to speak to a live person when the recording begins .... she was VERY nice .... I was very ferocious ............ LOL.

Call his office!! She said they just started getting calls.

Upstate Regional Office
101 East Washington Street
Suite 220
Greenville
(864) 250-1417

DC

Washington Office
290 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
(202) 224-5972

I’m calling DC when I get back from my errands.

Those ungrateful Senate bastards better not pass ONE bill, resolution, anything (and dig every single earmark out), until they leave, the hell with it. I mean nothing, holding it up, voting as a block.

I dunno...aren't they in cahoots? I mean, even Paris Hilton gets it that McCain is for drilling...and then these clowns go and ruin everything!

Thanks for the article. WOW. These guys are morons.

...."That’s because the plan is a Democratic giveaway. New production on offshore federal lands is left to state legislatures, and then in only four coastal states. The regulatory hurdles are huge. And the bill bars drilling within 50 miles of the coast — putting off limits some of the most productive areas. Alaska’s oil-rich Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is still a no-go.

The highlight is instead $84 billion in tax credits, subsidies and federal handouts for alternative fuels and renewables. The Gang of 10 intends to pay for all this in part by raising taxes on . . . oil companies! The Sierra Club couldn’t have penned it better. And so the Republican Five has potentially given antidrilling Democrats the political cover they need to neutralize energy through November."

I’m on the floor of the House of Representatives.

The GOP is still there and the crowds are packing the floor. If you’ve ever wanted to be on the floor of the House, now is your chance.

Today, though, with RedState, we’re doing something new. Members of Congress are targeting those Democrats who say they are in favor of expanding drilling to the Outer Continental Shelf, but aren’t willing to stand and fight for it.

I’ll have video of all this later today.

More from the Hill:

http://www.politico.com/blogs/thecrypt/0808/Boehner_Republicans_will_be_here_every_day_until_she_brings_us_back.html

Boehner: GOP will be here ‘every day until she brings us back’

A defiant House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Republicans will continue their floor protest on gas prices, including during both the GOP and Democratic national conventions, until they get a vote allowing more offshore drilling.

Boehner also claimed that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Democratic incumbents will pay a political price on Election Day if they don’t allow such a vote.

In an inteview on Friday, Boehner said Republicans will stay on the floor “every day until she brings us back, until the Speaker brings us back. Every day.”

Boehner portrayed Pelosi, who has opposed more offshore drilling throughout her career, as blocking the “will of the American people,” since recent polls shows widespread support for new offshore drilling, even in areas like California and Florida, long off limits to such activities due to environmental concerns.

“You can’t thwart the will of the American people. Our system of government doesn’t allow it,” Boehner said. “When people speak up, this place responds.”

Boehner added: “One person can’t stand up and just block the will of the American people. She may be trying to protest Harry Reid and Barack Obama, but the Speaker is gonna get rolled. The only question is when. And you can take that to the bank.”

More than 80 Republicans have taken part in the protest sessions since it started, according to GOP leadership aides, and Boehner believes that all 199 GOP lawmakers will do so if it continues throughout the month.

The GOP revolt began last Friday as a spontaneous outpouring of anger when Democrats pushed through an adjournment resolution over Republican opposition. Roughly 75 Republicans, including Boehner, had been scheduled to make floor speeches on gas prices, but Democrats were not eager to allow the GOP to have so much floor time bashing the majority.

Boehner said he had spoken to Price, Pence and Wetstmoreland the previous night, discussing strategy for the next day’s floor speeches. When the adjournment resolution passed by a one-vote margin, Republicans went to the floor to vent their unhappiness, even as Democrats turned off the lights and C-Span cameras went dark.

“It was outrageous,” Boehner said of the Democratic attempt to cut of GOP floor speeches.

About 50 Republicans came to the floor that day to complain about the Democratic tactic, and the protest continued into this week, led by Reps. Tom Price (R-Ga.), Mike Pence (R-Ind.), and Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.). Buoyed by the success in gaining press coverage, and the backing they received from the conservative Republican base, Boehner and other GOP leaders have kept it going. Now Boehner says it will continue throughout August, when Washington is normally empty and members are home running for re-election
