George Bush had his three-fingered W salute that supporters flashed when greeting him at presidential campaign events in 2000. And now, if a Los Angeles creative agency gets its way, Sen. Barack Obama will see fans meet him with his own salute like the one above. "Our goal is to see a crowd of 75,000 people at Obama's nomination speech holding their hands above their heads, fingers laced together in support of a new direction for this country, a renewed hope, and acceptance of responsibility for our future," says Rick Husong, owner of The Loyalty Inc.

are there still large landholders dominating the agrarian areas up in the north and around Seville?

I don’t know, really. Especially about the northern part. We did visit Seville and as we drove through the countryside, our guide did tell us that the vast acreage of olive trees and sunflowers were owned by families; similar to ranches in Texas. This was a few years ago so I wouldn’t know what their current situation is.

He has NLP triggers in most of his pre-prepared speeches. I've seen this mentioned on other threads. Can either of you explain briefly what to look for in his speeches?

You nailed it. I think many have missed the rise of fascism in America that is reflected in the Obama campaign and the modern left. Many call it communism, but it is fascism by every definition. Toss in the cult of personality and there is a very real danger facing this country.

NLP = Neuro Linguistic Programming. It is basically the use of verbal and psychological triggers in your speech and behavior to create an almost hypnotic state. It was originally used by psychologists in treatment sessions, but the marketing folks got ahold of it in the past decade or so and use it everywhere.
I am currently writing a book on how teachers can use it (and other marketing techniques) in education to help learning stick.

What sort of things can we look for in his speeches that would suggest NLP? What did you see that made you take notice?

The key thing to look for with Obama is ‘anchoring’, these are deliberate pauses, motions, or things like hitting a podium when he wants a point to stick. Hey may say something like ‘McCain isn't a racist’, but he will make nonverbal queues on the words McCain and Racist to make those two words stick with his audience.

vrwc54 says that Obama’s artist, Shepard Fairey who did the progress poster, admits that he was influenced by Soviet style art. Its consistent throughout Obama’s entire campaign, including his website.
