We who obsess over universal health coverage may soon confront a startling development: The only candidate on a major-party presidential ticket to have proposed and implemented a universal plan could well be a Republican. I speak of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, now high on the list of John McCain's possible running mates.

“Yes I do have a religion. And anyone can mock it as much as they wish.”
And what religion is that, pray tell (in case someone wants to mock it on this thread, as did Mister “magic pants”). Come on, cough it up, what religion are you, so you can open it up to mockery?
I would say so. The part about Easter escapes you eh?
I am Protestant.
Yes. We are being royally screwed no matter what.
I fear that this great experiment may hang in the balance...
I continue to plan for my children; that is all.
Jindal has come straight out and said he wouldn't take the job.
And unfortunately, Palin being investigated for abuse of office”-—
I'm not buying that Jindal wouldn't take it. Palin’s investigation is a joke for those of us who know what's going on there. If anything it looks like a political prosecution and has HELPED her in Alaska.
Besides, thanks to the newly created House committee, McCain and whoever his Veep pick is will be under investigation anyway. Just being labeled “under investigation” is no killer anymore, thanks to that simple fact. I like Mitt, but rest assured he'll fail your not-under-investigation threshold soon after he gets picked. And unlike Palin, who has high positives, Romney has very high negatives and couldn't budge them higher in a full year - even among just GOP voters.
Sorry, but I refuse to walk into the Dem trap set for all to see. It gets me very mad that anyone does - “well so-and-so is now ‘under investigation,’ so they're out now”........
Mark my words, Mitt Romney will be “under investigation” faster than you can say, “McCain/Romney,” if he gets picked. Just ask Bill Owens, Dick Cheney, or Senator Craig and/or Stevens.
That being said, I do like Mitt. I just prefer Palin or Jindal because of the new voters.
If you know the Lord the arguments here will not be attended.
Don’t you love how patronizing they are? It’s like a threat, too. “Careful there, little lady.” Or what, punk ass bitch? These keyboard commandoes are something else, entirely.
bttt
But on these strained Mitt Romney sycophancy threads, the mere hint of the mormon issue causes so many to just move to another thread, leaving just the sycophants for Mitt to post their propaganda while a few tenacious conservatives post the refutations. And if you dare to expose Mitt Romney's liberal history and his duplicitous rhetoric, you will be insulted in the sycophancy's effort to quiet opposition. It is the Romney way don'tchaknow. If you don't embrace the false conservative Mitten, you're a bigoted anti-mormon fanatic.
Another fine example of Mittiacs on parade.
I’m in 2nd and ready to take it I hope! Pocono Woo-Hoo!
“I am Protestant.”
How generic of you. What specific denomination?
Oh, let’s argue semantics, shall we? You didn’t like my graphics. So be it.
“Dont you love how patronizing they are? Its like a threat, too. Careful there, little lady. Or what, punk ass bitch? These keyboard commandoes are something else, entirely.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Thanks.
Toots? How do you know if I am a male or female? Do you know how disrespectful that is to both sexes? But of course I wouldn’t expect anything less from someone like you.
“If you don’t embrace the false conservative Mitten, you’re a bigoted anti-mormon fanatic.”
Who is the TRUE conservative? That’s the 64 quadtrillion dollar question... *Yawn*
None of your business.
I'm with you. I think right now we should be doing our thing in a positive way. I just retrieved the "Send me money" letter from John McCain out of the junk mail pile. Where I am supposed to write in how much I am going to donate I wrote, "I will send you the maximum contribution allowed if McCain selects Mitt for VP". If McCain gets enough of these back it might help him make up his mind.
Then why go even as far as ‘Protestant’? What was it you were saying...
“Where I am supposed to write in how much I am going to donate I wrote, “I will send you the maximum contribution allowed if McCain selects Mitt for VP”. If McCain gets enough of these back it might help him make up his mind.”
What a great idea! Kudus to you. That’s right, be pro-active.
