I didn’t think this was new news.

((((

The point, Morgan, is that it did not make “the news” at all! Days of coverage of the intent of a McCain ad, and no coverage of the Senate’s lack of ethical behavior.

One of the reasons that the Republicans stayed in the House was because there is a ‘rule’? that both Houses have to agree on what happens when they leave a session, and since the Senate is going to continue to have sessions there was no ‘agreement between the Houses.”

True reporters of Congressional affairs should have at least mentioned this development.

Remember the scolding nasty media coverage of President Bush going on a month-long vacation in the summer of 2001!

Understood, and I agree.

Being a Democrat means never having to say you’re sorry.

In this case the MSM helps them avoid blame, once again.

Both chambers voted on and approved an adjournment resolution (H.Con.Res.398 - usually pass on voice vote, this one was 48-40 in the Senate), and this bit of multiple "pro forma sessions" by the Senate has been done at least 4 times (working from memory) since last year. Once in between the 1st and second sessions of the 110th Congress (Dec '07 - Jan 08), the break BEFORE that (Thanksgiving '07), and each break in 2008 (e.g., the 4th of July break).
