Coalition, Afghan Forces Kill Enemy Fighters, Detain Six Suspects

WASHINGTON, Aug. 4, 2008 Coalition and Afghan forces killed enemy fighters, detained six suspects and found weapons during recent operations in Afghanistan, military officials said.
In operations yesterday, coalition forces were searching areas in Ghazni provinces Waghez district when they came under attack by small-arms and mortar fire. Coalition forces repelled the attack, killing an unspecified number of enemy fighters, officials said.
Afghan and coalition forces detained four suspected terrorists and discovered bomb-making materials in Khowst province. The individuals reportedly are linked to a bomb-facilitation network responsible for numerous attacks in the provinces Sabari district, officials said.
In operations Aug. 2, coalition forces killed one enemy fighter and detained two more in Ghazni province. The individuals reportedly are responsible for bombings and mortar attacks against Afghan and coalition troops, officials said.

S. 3370, the “Libyan Claims Resolution Act,” which facilitates the resolution of pending claims against Libya by United States nationals.
