Alas we could not get 60 votes in the Senate to drill in ANWAR due to certain GOP Senators particularly a couple from Maine.
So what? If we had any kind of Republican leadership in the House or Senate during those six years, they would have kept their members in session during the traditional summer recess, Thanksgiving, and Christmas to force a debate on the issue. In addition, this debate is not (or should not be) about ANWAR. It should be about the development and implementation of a COMPREHENSIVE ENERGY POLICY that includes ANWAR and offshore drilling, refining capacity, nuclear power, natural gas, coal, hydro, wind, solar, thermal, conservation, and R & D.
There the kind, along with Arlen Specter anad Arnold Schwarzenegger, we shouldn’t vote for.
